I have a tab request..

If anyone can figure out Of Before i'l be SO grateful as its one of those songs that i really really can't get..and I want to go my own recording of it.

There is no other tabs around so I'll be REALLY grateful if someone could find the time to try and tab this out.

Thanks :angrysmiley:

Ok this is the way i play this song. it's not exactly like how John plays it in the live vids i've seen but it's somewhere along the same lines. this is one of my party pieces that i tend to play a lot for people, love it so much!! <3 <3 :(

Modern Love - David Bowie

Chords used (from low E to high e)

Eadd9- x 7 9 9 7 x
Em- x 7 9 9 8 x
C (b 7th fret)- 8 10 10 9 7 x
(the name for this chord doesnt exist as far as i know :( but u get the idea)
C- 8 10 10 9 8 x
Dsus2- x 5 7 7 5 x
D- x 5 7 7 7 x
G- 3 5 5 4 3 3
Am – 5 7 7 5 5 5
Bm – 7 9 9 7 7 7
F – 1 3 3 2 1 1
E – x 7 9 9 9 x

Eadd9 – Em I know when to go out
C (b 7th) – C I know when to stay in
Dsus2 – D Get things done
Eadd9 – Em

C......................C
I catch a paper boy
.............................G
But things don't really change
.............................Am
I'm standing in the wind
.................................Bm....F
But I never wave bye, bye
........C
But I try
....G......Em
I try

C..................C
Its not really worth
..............................G
Its just the power to charm
.......................Am
I'm lying in the rain
.................................Bm....F
But I never wave bye, bye
.........C
But I try
.....G....Em
I try

Chorus
..............................C

Never gonna fall for modern love
....................D..................Em
walks beside me, walks on by
.......................F
Gets me to the church on time
C.................D
terrifies me, makes me party
Em...................F
puts my trust in God and man
C....................D
No confession, no religion
Em..................F
don't believe in modern love

Bridge: (there’s a sax solo on the original here – John plays a bit of a solo around the following chord progression, I just play the chords and add in a few hammers and pulls to spice it up. )

C-G-Am-E-F-C-G-Em

C..................C

Its not really worth
...............................G
Its just the power to charm
.......................Am
I'm lying in the rain
.................................Bm....F
But I never wave bye, bye
........C
But I try
.....G ... Em
I try

..............................C

Never gonna fall for modern love
.....................D................ Em
walks beside me, walks on by
.......................F
Gets me to the church on time
C..................D
terrifies me, makes me party
Em....................F
puts my trust in God and man
C.................. D
No confession, no religion
Em.................. F
don't believe in modern love

Repeat chorus chords singing "modern love" repeat to fade

Well thats all folks... i hope you find this accurate enough to use it yourselves. if anyone has any suggestions on how to improve the tab please say!! oh and if you want the solo bit like how john plays it just ask and i'll try tab it out for ya!

peace

So, when adding them to the site, do I need to put them in .txt files?

He uses an Oberheim VCF apparantly, try finding one of them pearls....
Good luck :flirt:

However, new question. I started on (trying) tabbing Girls. However, I have so far only one of the the main thingies.

This starts on 0:35

-------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------
----9--7----------------------12--14----------
-----------10---10-----/-14-------------------
-------------------------------------------------

And for the thingy starting on 0:10, I was thinking of something starting with an A and ending with an E (VII on the A-string)

Any suggestions, anyone?

I know that requesting in your first post is something terrible.

And I sincerely apologize for doing so.

Well, I went to the Sweden RHCP show last month. John played How Can I Tell You
by Cat Stevens, and it was nothing short of amazing. Shortly thereafter I found a audioclip
of that song on the Swedish RHCP fansite. I decided to share it with someone. She truely
loved it, even more so than the original, and she wants me to learn how to play it.

And I'd really like to know how to play it. But I haven't been playing guitar for very long and I
haven't had very much earpractice. So if someone could help me get the chords and how John
hits them remotely right I'd be really grateful. Thank you

Iva, Are you still gonna put these on the site? Or have you put them up and I haven't noticed?

It's illegal now to have tabs on the site... so, I wouldn't want you to get in any trouble over that :S

~ Amyndel - For that song, the chords are Em A D G used throughout, and I think he's just strumming.
