I recommend Sigur Ros. Great music to relax to :)

I like Omar Rodriguez; A Manual Dexterity, Vol 1. It is such a mix of music, with so many different influences-salsa, jazz, rock-its great.

Anyone who has not had a taste of anything Mike Patton has done, do yourself a favor and check some of it out. (Faith No More, Tomahawk, Mr Bungle, Fantomas..)
I would describe how these bands sound, but Patton always covers many genres in his projects. Even his vocals range from falsettos to some heavy screaming at times. He has worked with a lot of artists..including Bjork for her album Medulla.
Depending on how open of a mind you have, some of his work might take some getting used to. I have a lot of songs if anyone wants me to send them some. Otherwise, check some of it out. I guess I would recommend Faith No More first if you haven't heard him at all...and then Mr Bungle or Tomahawk after that.
"I prefer to learn everything through music. If you want divinity, the music in every human being and their love for music is pretty much it. It's the big indication of their spirituality and their ability to love and make love, or feel pain or joy, and really manifest it, really be real." - Jeff Buckley

Joy Division... to me it's like a fusion of The Talking Heads and Fugazi. It's pretty awesome. And if you don't have any Talking Heads or Fugazi, you should get some of that too.

loads of people know him, especially jffans, so its nothing new to most of you, but still it had to be said, SYD BARRETT is uh, wow, in a cosmic way. for anyone who doesnt know him, he was the creative force behind early pink floyd which should give you some idea. id probably rate him one of the most creative musicians ever, and coming from me, thats high praise. so if you're interested in listening to something kinda bazaar and inspirational and transcendent. this is the guy. i see how lots of people say that sort of stuff about people. but this guy seriously was on another plane most of the time. :)
silence itself is an intensified pause, a visualized hush,
a creative quiet, an actual moment of reciprocal

I watched the Foo Fighters in Hyde Park this weekend, and Juliette and the licks supported-they were so good! Juliette Lewis is a great front-woman for the band-she has so much energy and personality-they were great to watch!

A band who's really dominating the local secen here in Bristol (UK), G.E.M. They're rock with a teaspoon of funk added to the mix to make one hot tea :D (Sorry for the terrible metaphor :D ) Also try The Hit-Ups, also from Bristol and dominating the local scene. Infact these two are quite the rivals.....

Look 'em up on MySpace, I can't be bothered to give links right now

Oh almost forgot, Plan B, a British Hip Hop artist who has been dubbed "the British Eminem" (Eminem's good stuff :P )
