There was a while when I was experimenting with reversing songs, using the free program Audacity that you can get for Mac or Windows (there is an option called Reverse under the Effects menu if you want to try it yourself).

I tried a lot of John's songs and some really have haunting melodies when reversed. I listen to them sometimes as if they were an album... one on which John is singing opera in a long forgotten language. You wouldn't believe that you could get such beautiful new sounds out of existing recordings. I wanted to make a compilation of the best ones, but I never got around to trying all of his songs.

I will share some of the ones I liked.
Stream or download them here from SoundCloud

Tracklisting
Dissolved
Leap Your Bar
Oh Freddy Bush (The Dying Song)
A Rabbit Called Runny (Well I've Been)
Nights in White Satin
Scratches
Time Tonight
Untitled #2

Later added:
Song to the Siren
Every Person
Water

If anyone is up for the challenge, find more that you think are worth listening to and share them. And if you write a song based on one of the reversed melodies, definitely share a recording of that. I have thought about writing songs based on some of these melodies myself.

Found two more gems: Song to the Siren and Every Person

If anyone recommends any others, I can add them to SoundCloud.

NICE!

I got to nights in white satin, thinking you'd changed the name because I didn't recognize it as a JF song. Never knew of this cover!

THANKS!
