After having been nominated for the second time - the first time for induction in 2010, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are to be inducted into Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. The results have been announced earlier today and the other inductees are Guns N' Roses Beastie Boys, the Small Faces/Faces, Donovan and Laura Nyro.

Here's the official statement from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:

The founding members of the band have already reacted to the news - Flea on his blog and Anthony Kiedis in an interview, and while Flea mentioned John by himself, Kiedis was asked about him by the interviewer. Here are the excerpts from what they said.

Flea, on his redhotchilipeppers.com blog:

It also makes me think of something I think of everyday anyways. Of John Frusciante, the virtuoso musician and songwriter who gave so much to our band. Without him, we would not be going to the hall of fame. He wrote countless great things with us, played an infinite amount of stunning things, and taught us how to be a great band. He helped lift us to a much higher level, he is the greatest. We connected deeply for many years, and he left our band with many gifts.

Anthony Kiedis, for Rolling Stone:

Do you think that John Frusciante will come to the induction?
Ummm... Wow. It would be a guess on my behalf on whether or not he'll come. I can't imagine that he would, but it's a "you never know" kind of thing. I haven't talked to him in quite a while. I don't know where he's at these days. He'll obviously be more than welcome, and embraced if he does. If he doesn't, that's cool too.

If you're interested in going to Cleveland to see the induction on April 14th 2012, the tickets for the ceremony are 50 and 100$ each and you can find more information here: http://rockhall.com/...012-inductions/

Hey Iva,

I just read that news today, and like you, I also thought to myself whether or not John would play. If I had to make a guess, I can see him showing up to accept the award since he is such an admirer of music and most of his musical heroes are in the hall of fame. However, I don't see him playing with the band to celebrate their induction. Something just tells me that he feels the band is in the past, and playing with them would be going backwards for him. I could be totally off base but it's just a hunch I have.

Also, after reading that interview with Anthony Kiedis, it appears that he doesn't care much for John. Flea is always praising John and basically stating that the band would have been nothing without John, and all Anthony does is talk about how great Josh is and how he looks forward to playing with him! He needs to start giving praise where it is due and realize that John brought RHCP into an unthinkable level when he both joined and re-joined the band in the late 90's.

I've noticed this trend in several interviews with Kiedis since John's departure and I'm not sure if it's jealousy or that he simply doesn't like John. I remember the infamous John interview from 94 where he mocks Anthony, and maybe there was always bad blood between them, but as long as they sold millions of records, Anthony kept quiet about it. I'm not sure. I think Josh is okay, but it upsets me that Anthony isn't more grateful for all of John's hard work with the band.

I wouldn't blame John for not going. The Rock n Roll hall of frame is a crock of sh*t anyways. Controlled by few individuals as to who gets in and who doesn't

Fleas response the the hall of fame induction is very nice actually. I liked reading it. Made me reflect on all their music an how i used to listen to it as if they were the only band on earth.(despite what my friends would think).

I don't know if Anthony hates john or anything like that but their friendship has gone on the wayside that is for sure. I'm not surprised. They seem to have ALWAYS had issues with their friendship. Most of what John says about Anthony I agree with. He has some nice lyrics(One Hot Minute, BSSM, Cali are my favs) but I always thought that Ant had a bigger ego then the rest. He really welcomes the pop lifestyle more then any others. I sometimes question his real love of music when he doesn't ever do any special guest singing parts in songs and never had any other projects besides the red hot chili peppers. Then he goes to American Idol and talk shows. Makes an auto-biography(which is a good book), attempts to be an actor. The whole shtick. He has what his dad had in him. That indulgence for fame.

Frusciante does NOT have this in him. Flea hardly does as well. I think Chad doesn't really give a fuck. It may have something to do with their clashing personalities. I think they were the closest during Californication to be honest.

PS: I made my user name YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS ago. haha :P
Somewhere in between the sludge was a poorly written tattoo of a Chili Pepper lyric I saw on a cheerleader in high school.
