The Chili Source recently posted an interview with Flea and Josh. It was translated poorly so it's a bit hard to read, but still understandable.
Josh talks about John briefly at the end and mentions that he doesn't think he'll play with John anymore. That's a bit of a bummer.. here's the link

Of course it's anyone's guess if the translation has altered the point he was trying to make. The original transcription is in the link too, so if anyone can do a better job than Google for translating....

I was just typing this for the site (as I do post news, even when the site is online) and, as an advanced speaker of Italian, I did promise a better translation of this to TCS and I did translate this myself.
Regardless of the language used, the words can be read in a couple of ways. Here's my translation:
Josh is looking on, smiling, every now and then he makes a joke, politely and shyly, but not too shyly. When Flea goes to the bathroom for a moment, he tells [us] that he has no problems playing the songs that the band composed with the other guitarists.
"John had a problem with pieces from 'One Hot Minute', those the band did with Dave Navarro. I have bought that CD and I love it, that tour was also the first time I saw the Peppers live. But from what I know, the others [in the band?] don't like those pieces either.
He tells us that he wants to continue [with] his solo career.
"During tour breaks, I'll be making my own music. But I don't think that I will be playing with John for now / yet ", he says. Josh has played on a lot of Frusciante's solo albums, they did one under both names and two as Ataxia.
"At the end of the day, John has enough concentrating on his own things / he's concentrated only on his own things."
...I am not sure if this was meant to be sensational or if the Italian press just worded it ambiguously; but pehjott just gave a realistic explanation.

Well Iva, thanks for the better translation as I feel it's more optimistic. I figured it was from the poor translation, but the original translation almost came across like a divorce. An open ended "for now / yet" is much better considering how good their collaborations are. Josh played so much of the music from (most of John's albums but specifically) The Empyrean, and if John continues in that direction it'd be great if at some point he can help out again.

They will one day reunite for a few albums I think/hope,
to me they are like a much more versatile Simon and Garfunkel that get along too. : )
