Hi, I just ordered a Seymour Duncan SSL-1 pickup for my strat. I have never installed a pickup in a guitar before and have minimal electrical experience. I do have a little experience soldering. My question is if I followed instructions online, do you think there is a high potential for me to screw it up. The only guitar shop in my area wants to charge nearly twice the cost of the pickup to install it. What do you think? Thanks!

The guitar shop shouldn't charge more than 25-30 dollars to install pickups. If they decline that, say fuck em to their face. Since its the only one in your area, they probably figure they can charge outrageous prices for something as simple as installing pickups. Having soldering expierence is all you really need, which you said you have. Follow the directions and you will be fine. Or look up videos on youtube showing how to install single coil pickups.
