I remember an interview where John lays out how important David Bowie, along with other musicians, was to his maturation and development as a musician. So I wanted to start a thread where people could discuss the influence people could see in Frusciante, or post videos of John covering Bowie, or whatever they wanted concerning the two.

Do you want to discuss the influence people could find in Froosh, or his actual influences? As for the latter, I'm sure that topic has been long discussed already.

Just Bowie's influence on Frusciante.

Well I know John used to dress up in drag and considered himself bisexual for a time. Or at least relating very much to his feminine side.

David Bowie has a real ear for chord progression and vocal melody. I am sure Frusciante draws some influence from that. No doubt on his later solo efforts. Bowie was also big on huge sound scapes. Like the Empyrean and Shadows.
Somewhere in between the sludge was a poorly written tattoo of a Chili Pepper lyric I saw on a cheerleader in high school.
