This is probably purely speculative, but hopefully someone might know. I'm just wondering because I know he enjoys being with himself and prefers living in his own creative world of thoughts and ideas. This may have been the reason why he decided to quit RHCP and be alone for years. It's also hard for a schizoid to be around so many people, especially people who worship him. From what I've read in interviews, articles, it seems like it's difficult for him to live in normal reality. This may be locked but this is a serious question. I have SPD and I see myself in him. This is just something that I've been wondering about for awhile. Thanks
Schizoid personality disorder (SPD) is a personality disorder characterized by a lack of interest in social relationships, a tendency towards a solitary lifestyle, secretiveness, emotional coldness and sometimes (sexual) apathy, with a simultaneous rich, elaborate and exclusively internal fantasy world.
The World Health Organization's ICD-10 lists schizoid personality disorder as
Emotional coldness, detachment or reduced affection.
Limited capacity to express either positive or negative emotions towards others.
Consistent preference for solitary activities.
Very few, if any, close friends or relationships, and a lack of desire for such.
Indifference to either praise or criticism.
Taking pleasure in few, if any, activities.
Indifference to social norms and conventions.
Preoccupation with fantasy and introspection.
Lack of desire for sexual experiences with another person.
Some evidence:
In vpro interview, he says he no longer cares about sex, and music is more important
"I am very happy to be alive. There is much fun to be had. Music, movies, books, paintings, drawings...I hope you have these things where you are. If you have them, what does the real world matter anyway?" -- john has said over and over that he cares less about the real world than the world inside himself, and the universe. i read an article on this site where a friend described him as not caring about his appearance, wearing random bits of clothes.
The way he has a temper, but is then gentle afterwards -- like yelling at that kid with a sign and apologizing.
All the years of solitude doing heroin, writing in tons of notebooks, paintings, recording music
His indifference to compliments -- for a schizoid, compliments have no meaning
His belief in spirits guiding him and his quest for knowledge and introspection
does John have SPD?schizoid personality disorder
