Hi guys,

In what songs does John use the MXR Micro Amp? I think he uses it during Can't Stop...what else?

I'm not sure its usage in albums as the tone of the amp can be tweaked to whatever liking in studio, but in live use its pretty apparent. It just kicks in a little extra gain, a little more of a "push" from the amp. The Micro Amp and WH-10 are a deadly combination and I would guess every sticky wah solo (or Get On Top perhaps) would involve the Micro Amp. If I recall you can actually hear him turn it on and off in some live shows, like the introduction to Can't Stop live @ Milan.

The Micro Amp isn't for some extra "push". John used it to have a clear and good signal at the end of his long pedal chain. He had many old pedals with no true bypass and every one of them suck a little bit of his tone. 20 pedals without true bypass would kill his sound. I'm pretty sure he used it to make his signal stronger. For Can't Stop he used his Silver Jubilee and he turned the volume on his strat up. That's all.

Edit: On the Can't Stop intro in Milan he turned the pedal next to the WH10 and one of his Moogerfoogers off. You can clearly hear the "pop" of the switch. The Mosrite Fuzzrite was at that time besides the WH10 and it's very old so the "pop" noise came from this pedal not the MXR Micro Amp.

No problem ;)

Yeah, I got this pedal. I play guitar in a Red Hot Chili Peppers and a System Of A Down tribute band. It's cool in distorted songs and you will play a solo without a wah ('cause there's no boost). It adds more gain and makes your signal stronger. If you have the Micro Amp in the loop it make's your amp louder. There's no tone coloration at all. But honestly: I don't need it really. I use very often wah for solo playing and for System I use mainly flanger and delay.

Try it in a music shop! That's all I can say :) It's a good pedal and one of the best boosters out there!

I have a WH-10 wah pedal. It cuts my highs pretty hard. I was unhappy about this until I bought microamp. Putting it right before WH-10 and turning it at 9 o'clock bring my highs back. Try it. :respekkt:
