Hey all,
First off let me say I've been a gibson player for a long time and usually play on fatter necks. My LP DC has a slightly skinny neck but not that much. My first guitar which was a LTD ec had a REALLY thin neck, and didn't really notice it when I got it because it was my first guitar, but now it feels like my hand envelops the whole thing.
NOW, to my question. I'm looking in the market for a strat, but I wan't to make sure I get one with a RELETIVELY skinny neck. The purpose for this is for easier access to the bass notes with my thumb. I can do it on my gibsons but it is really tough. Do you know what type of necks, as far as the names of them go I would want to look at? I know every neck is going to vary from guitar to guitar, but what is the type of neck I want for that kind of hendrix, frusciante thumb tricks
neck size and strats

thx for the reply, but I'm looking for strat necks. Unless I could find one of those necks on ebay, and put it on a strat body, which is not as much trouble as I'm willing to go to.

Stop by a guitarcenter, try what you like. There's curvature and width to the neck, so you can't just say "size" 'cause what you're gonna be comfortable playing is more than that. Personally I've never touched a guitar with a better neck than the Eric Johnson signature stratocaster.

"Well, it was put to me by "that guy" when I was, like, four. So I went into my parents' record collection and found a rock'n'roll compilation. And when my mom asked if I wanted to move to L.A., I said, "Yeah," because I knew that was where the rock stars were. I was seven. Then when I found punk and listened to the Germs, I started seeing how I was part of this. I remember being out on the baseball field when I was 11, and I felt like such an outsider. Standing there in right field, I started making up an angry punk song in my head, and I went home and wrote, like, 20 songs in a row. I realized it didn't even matter if I knew how to play guitar yet." -John Frusciante
