Hello!(Sorry my english is not very good)I don't have an english name, the abbreviation of my name is YYQ.I am from China.I used to play bass in a rock band and now it's over but I am trying to write my own songs,it's fun when I write a song with chinese cause occident music has a big influence on me.I often take comfort from music, actually living in a big city in my country makes me very confused.
Anyway,hello again!

Hi YYQ, welcome! I'd say your English is quite good.

"English name"... every Chinese person I've met [online/through work] had chosen an English name for themselves, I always found it peculiar. I mean, your original names aren't that hard to pronounce, is there another reason why you people pick English names for yourselves?

I think that, in some places, like Hong Kong, it's actually mandatory. There's a girl who posted once or twice here who has both Chinese and English name. I guess that's a cultural thing?

I am more annoyed by Europeans, mostly Greeks and Poles, who think they're a big deal if they pick an anglicised name instead of their own.

Sorry for the off topic, hi YYQ and welcome to the board. I hope you'll love it here. :)
