I mean this in the sense of just Frusciante, like the couple of rare gigs I'm sure we've all seen 20 times over. Soon, way into the future?

He doesn't need the money that I'm aware of, and it's really not his deal to stick himself in the spotlight when he can make his music in peace. I just don't see it happening.
"Take that fucking sign down." -John Frusciante

"Well, it was put to me by "that guy" when I was, like, four. So I went into my parents' record collection and found a rock'n'roll compilation. And when my mom asked if I wanted to move to L.A., I said, "Yeah," because I knew that was where the rock stars were. I was seven. Then when I found punk and listened to the Germs, I started seeing how I was part of this. I remember being out on the baseball field when I was 11, and I felt like such an outsider. Standing there in right field, I started making up an angry punk song in my head, and I went home and wrote, like, 20 songs in a row. I realized it didn't even matter if I knew how to play guitar yet." -John Frusciante

i see it reasonably likely he will appear every now and then. i think he's more inclined to play shows close to him. he obviously doesn't like big tours. but a show.... sure.

Nicknaming a man like a dog, Slovenian toffee candy or anything like that is not OK...so, I edited the "FruFru" thing out. I like to think FruFru are only the toffees I get at the supermarket. Yeesh!

And to respond to the thread: whatever he decides to do, whenever he's comfortable with it, is OK. If he would like to present his music to an audience, eventually, that would be splendid.

Iva, why do you got to victimize frusciante in every thread i see here? I understand that you do alot of good things for us frusciante fans who wants to get info on wheter hes for example or not. But i dont really understand this correction thing you got going on here on the forum. Im sure FruFru didnt mean to call frusciante a dog, why would he really? If he hangs out at a forum thats full of us frusciante-stalkers im sure he is as big of fan as we are. It just feels like you sometimes feel the eager to take frusciante in defense when it isnt really necessary. You dont got anything to prove to us.. We all know your a frusciante fanatic just as we are.. You dont got to defend John's integrety in every little thread you see.

OT: I myself would love to see john do a solo tour as we all would. But without a band, thats depending on him; i dont see it happening. He got nothing to prove to anyone, and as we all know he would feel the need to prove anyhing to anyone even if he had to.
He knows he can just sit in his appartement and just make music without anyone interupting him. No pressure

I am not a Frusciante fanatic at all, I am not defending him, I was just brought up by two people who taught me not to give nicknames and not to accept them either. That's common sense, not defending anyone.

And seriously, there are FruFru toffees, they're made in Slovenia. :)

But if Iva's a fanatic, she sure hides it well. She just seems to have grown up in a more private society where it's considered incredibly rude to make inferences about other people's lives. Just bear that in mind when posting and when reading her criticisms. (Similarly, she should probably find this fairly offensive, but you're not gonna get the point if I don't put this here, and if that happens you'll just end up upset with her. So here it is anyway.)

I feel the same. Iva, with completely no disrespect, "correcting" that was completely unnecessary. I mean we've all been affected by John's music the same way, and have all come together on this forum to discuss it -- and I agree completely with Luuucaas' point about you have to come to John's 'defence' wherever you see fit.

Since you obviously want this to be personal, why not?

No, I just find you to be an emotional invalid with either Asperger's or autism because you're interested in way too many details about people you have no connections with, yet you're able to insult a person you do have some sort of a connection with (e.g. you spoke to them privately) because you're scared of anything that could emotionally impact your system. And that's something people get treated for.

Lucas, I don't see how I'm defending John's integrity, either. I'm just doing what I'm supposed to do, which may or may not be in line with what I actually think. This is a huge responsibility. If I'm maintaining his official website, reporting oddities and violations I see on the Internet and so on, should I go out there and say that he's a selfish idiot or something? Nah. I also have no right to say that because I don't know him in person and I don't know any of the reasons he has for doing what he does. Neither do you. Neither do most of the people here.

Every next thread where people with less social skills and social intelligence than me try to dissect my neurons shall be closed. It's simple. This is not an Iva discussion board (yikes), this is a John Frusciante discussion board.

Michael, sorry for ignoring you. I explained the thing in the third and fourth paragraph. :)

At the ATP festival in '05 John said (regarding his performance of The First Season) "I released all that music last year, but I didn't play it for any audiences and I'm never going to do that again. If I put out some music then I'm going to play it for people, because You're half the music. You're half the music, it's not just the same. It's like, I never felt like that music..it just didn't feel complete until I was playing it for you guys"

That was 6 six years ago, but I don't know if he really would feel that opposed to how he himself felt in '05 about the issue. What do you guys think?

that's true, but i think the empyrean would've been hard to play live. sure would've been cool, tho. who knows whether the next album will be anything like the empyrean or like any of his other albums?

guess we'll just have to wait. i'm not abandoning my hope, but i'm also not going to expect it, and be let down.

Yea, just because he hasn't played a show promoting the empyrean doesn't mean he won't in the future, that's what this whole thread is concerning.

I don't think John will ever do a proper solo tour. I think that heavy, bona fide "touring" is one of the reasons that he ended up leaving the Chili Peppers. I think he is very comfortable doing one off solo gigs here and there but I think that is all you ever see from John.

I'd forgotten how much Iva used piss me off before I got to the point in my life where I'm glad that people are who they are and don't change for shit. Classic. Love it. Seriously it's great. People and their personalities are what they are. Ain't nobody changin shit, man.

Anybody else share the opinion that Live shows are somewhat overrated? I'm starting to feel like there's this infatuation with it being about being in the presence of the musician and not the music. I'm totally scrambled up in the head lately so I can't really formulate this thought the way I want to but yeah, I love seein my favorite musicians live but it's just gettin to be not worth it with the money side a things. The more I play my own waves and listen to my favorite shit in the settings I love I'm just not as into the live thing as I used to be. Eh. Don't know really. I'm only willing to go fairly short lengths to see anybody play live anymore.

I feel that John is in the phase right now where he's making music because it is what he loves to do, not necessarily for money or people. I think he's sort of doing his own thing and exploring new sounds (hence the Empyrean/Speed Dealer Moms/collab with ORL), not worrying about what other people might think about the record. And honestly I think that's how music should be... we are so fed up with the idea of Hollywood and taught to put so much significance on an image and a name of an artist, often times we forget to appreciate the art in its purest form. But I think he will eventually move to a next stage and will be sharing his music with us in future, although I'm not sure he'll ever do another live show. It kinda sucks though since I found John very late (around 2008) when he had already left the band pretty much.... I never got to see him live but I hope that changes in future.

I feel that his albums are like travelling art exhibitions that reached each of us somehow.
I do sometimes think of John as more of a classical artist (not classical music but adhering more to the enigmatic artists of the past who allowed their work to keep speaking.) In that sense, think that a famous artist did not generally always want to repaint their masterpieces in front of an audience nor would it be possible! If they tried it would be beautiful and surely the resulting artwork would touch people but it also would be going beyond how being an artist used to be, and that way was perfectly intelligent and understandable. :geek:

When I thought about it just now I also realized that John may or may not want the work of he and his friends and peers on the studio albums to really stand on their own. All of his albums have been about capturing dynamic and brilliant performances by himself and other musicians in a way that allows their work to breathe and speak differently each new time listening to them rather than feeling the same --- that's really really difficult to accomplish.
