What exactly is the difference tonally between ash and regular telecasters? Anyone got a preference?

And when my mom asked if I wanted to move to L.A., I said, "Yeah," because I knew that was where the rock stars were. I was seven. Then when I found punk and listened to the Germs, I started seeing how I was part of this. I remember being out on the baseball field when I was 11, and I felt like such an outsider. Standing there in right field, I started making up an angry punk song in my head, and I went home and wrote, like, 20 songs in a row. Before 1965 Fender used mostly swamp ash until large pieces of wood became harder and harder to find. I think ash has a more mellow tone with better ability to reverberate the lows in your music, whereas alder has a more in your face tone. It depends on what you prefer really, I have one mahogony guitar, 3 ash guitars, 3 alder guitars, and a couple of basswood guitars. I like them all the same for the most part.
