This may already be established, but the other day when listening to Lou Reed's Lady Day off of the Berlin album, I noticed a resemblance to Frusciante's song Mascara. Specifically, I found the part starting about 52 seconds into Lady Day and 59 seconds into Mascara very similar. Knowing that John was a big Lou Reed fan, especially during this period in his life, do you think this was just a coincidence? (Sorry I didn't post any links, I couldn't find a link to the album version of Lady Day)

Thanks

It probally is a rip off of Lady Day. He takes a lot of his influences from that period and place in music. Both are really good songs and both are really good musicians so what if you steal little bits here and there.

makes me wonder...if you took a person and gave them an instrument and never let them here any music and told them to make good sounds, what would that sound like?
