i recently bought a cd entitled John Frusciante EP . it has 3 songs on it : going inside, someones and moments have you. it says its a promo.

was just wondering if it was rare or if it was a limited release. i bought it for dirt cheap so i dont expect it to be rare . only reason i ask is because i had never came across this EP before

I am not sure how rare it is. Warner Bros. was the major label that handled JF's first two releases after rejoining RHCP. With the major label came a video budget (which was used to shoot short films that were edited to all TROWFTD tracks by Vincent Gallo), a single of "Going Inside" (the Going Inside 5-track EP), and a promo 3-track freebie to radio stations and employees. The promo is a normal thing for major labels and you can see how that the practice was not continued through all of JF's solo albums.

That said, I like the three track promo. It is a cool arrangement of songs and a nice pic of John in what appears to be his room at the Chateau Marmont (or I always imagined it being there).

You were lucky to get it cheap, on some websites it's sickeningly expensive.
