I'm starting a petition for a possible book from John Frusciante, nothing autobiographical, more like a philosophical essay or text or something. I didn't know what you guys thought?

Hopefully Iva can provide me with some info? I'm not sure who to direct it at, (John Frusciante, duh!), like his record company or whoever would deal with that. I doubt it would be Warner Brothers or Record Collection, but I'm just going to see.

While I would really love to read a book written by him, I don't think starting a petition is a good idea. It kinda defeats the whole point... if he wants to write one he will, getting pressured by fans is not nice in my opinion.

not to negate your efforts, but here's a better idea for a petition:

that he hires someone to once a month give us an update on what he's been working on musically and if (not that it has to, but just IF) it will be released in any way to the public.

that idea doesn't ask him to change his routine at all but would open up the lines of communication between him and fans a bit more.

then again, fuck it, John. While that would be appreciated a ton, you do what you want.

for the record though, i too would read that book. but new music matters to me more.

From what I was told, John wants to keep his Internet presence low-key. I would assume it's pretty much the same for every other sphere of his public persona. While it's obviously getting hypocrite in some situations (in ways that are probably very logical if you're in LA/Hollywood, but not making sense anywhere else); he's human and his wishes should be respected. He does not exist to make others happy.

So, let's hope that someday he'll be blogging again, if nothing else.

A book written due to a petition would feel so... fake. I'm interested in a book by John, but I want him to want to write it; I want him to feel it.

That too. Making a person do something just does not produce the same result.
