So no less interesting for me the question about what guitar does John play in particular songs from his albums.

Mean electric guitars of course.
Do you know what songs was recorded on his jag?

Any ideas?

I know two songs where he uses his Jaguar: Around the World and They're Red Hot. He's playing a Jag in the Funky Monks documentary when they record the song. I think he uses it at Suck my Kiss for some overdubs, as seen in the video but I'm not totally sure.

Other Guitars: His classic '62 Fender strat for most live songs, '63 Telecaster (heavily used during BTW), '61 Strat (the white one)during SA , '57 (or '55 I'm not sure) strat, Strat in Fiesta red also at SA, Gretsch White falcon (used for Otherside & Californication) Gibson Les Paul for the Righteous and the Wicked and Readymade, live he uses it also for Fortune Faded.
Coral Sitar used for Blood Sugar Sex Magik (the song), again for some overdubs.

Hope that helped.

I believe he recorded funky monks on the jaguar as well. In fact, alot of that album was done with jaguars.

I've heard he writes songs on his Jaguar as it's neck is a shorter scale compared to a Strat or Tele. But as for live performances (With the Chili's anyway) I don't think he uses the Jaguars at all :)

Ok. Thanks for info.

What is interesting for me: I want to hear how jaguar, telecaster, and start sound in songs. (Studio versions)
Especially his songs where clean sound is used.

I believe Will to death (song) was recorded with strat.
What about "goals" is it strat too?

I'm really no expert at electric guitars, but Goals sounds to me like Gretsch White Falcon. It may be Strat though, he used it a lot on his 2004 albums.

I'm sure of one thing though, he used a 12 string acoustic on The Past Recedes, on the solo. I guess for the verses he used his classic Martin - the brown guitar he uses for pretty much all his solo live shows.

I'm certain the the solo on Past Recedes is a 6 string acoustic. The bends on the last part of the solo would be impossible on a 12 string and would also sound out of tune (when you bend strings on a 12 string, the 2 unison strings are being bent at a different point, so are never in tune with each other).

Also I can't remember where the interview was, but DC EP was recorded on a trip to Washington. He had none of his gear wit him so had to borrow a couple of guitars. I'm pretty sure he used a couple of Les Paul juniors though, into the same Marshall amp that Fugazi used.
