Hey guys,

What are your favourite albums (You can choose more than one) from John's solo work and from his stuff with the Chili's?

At the moment, mine are:

Solo: Shadows Collide With People, The Empyrean

RHCP: By the Way, Californication, BSSM and Stadium Arcadium

Depends

When I'm really down and sad:

Usually Just a T-Shirt
The Will To Death

When I'm calm, contemplative and just want to do a lot of things like reading, drawing, writing, playing guitar or when i take a break from creating stuff and just meditate:
To Record Only Water For Ten Days
The Empyrean

When driving or in car:
Shadows Collide With People
Inside of Emptiness

At the moment, i am listening to Ataxia, song is Addition, and I think i just found a great piece of music right here.

From RHCP, I especially like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Blood Sugar Sex Magic, but apart from that i Don;t really listen to anything else. In fact, I haven't listened the Peps since like 2009 or so.

It's strange how i got rounf to listening Ataxia a year after i started listening Frusciante. I guess i disregarded it as being too alternative rock-oriented(or so i thought), but it's really gorgeous.

My favorite will probably always be Niandra Lades. Honorable mentions being the Empyrean and Curtains. Everything he makes is great though.

My favorite chili album would be Stadium Arcadium followed by BSSM.

The Empyrean is my favorite John Frusciante album. I can't rate the rest though, I like them each in their own way.

Favourite RHCP album... I'm not sure.

De-Loused in the Comatorium - The Mars Volta
Ok Computer - Radiohead
Ágćtis Byrjun - Sigur Rós
Leitmotif - dredg
Kid A - Radiohead
Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness - The Smashing Pumpkins
Lateralus - Tool

I listened to One Hot Minute yesterday, and I know it's not Frusciante but it was just awful. (In my opinion lol) And now Frusciante's left, I'm really hoping Klinghoffer can deliver :/

Also I hope Frusciante makes a new solo record and tours with it; whoo!!

i don't think john will tour again. i really hope he does some day, but i don't see it happening.

you really think OHM is an awful listening experience? i enjoy a bunch of the songs despite john's absence. i really like the bonus tracks: 'bob' and 'stretch you out', and my favorite track is probably 'one big mob' (totally different from john's style, but i fuckin love the slow part). 'falling into grace' is awesome too. 'deep kick' and 'transcending' are also really good.
when you say you don't like OHM, i can't help but think you only dislike the album because john is absent from the band at the time. i think people just can't give anyone else a chance.... but i understand that a little bit. it's like when you've had a taste of the best, nothing compares. music is very much like drugs.

Exactly, I got a taste of Frusciante's playing and then have to have that :/ I mean it's not as bad as some bubble gum pop album, but I can't compare to BSSM, or even there 1984 album!!

Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon, Oasis, etc; but they've all kind of disappointed me with their recent albums. Hopefully the Chili's next one won't haha

I'm probably going to come off as a typical fanboy or something, but all of them (exactly why he's my favorite artist and I'm on this site). Shadows Collide With People is currently in first place as that's what I've been listening to the most lately.

As for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, I'd say Stadium Arcadium, By The Way and Californication

Actually this is pretty much the case for me as well. In fact, there is not one song by Frusciante or on which he collaborated that i do not like - and he's the only artist whose work i enjoy in its entirety.

I think i may also like all songs by Esbjorn Svensson Trio, but I'm far from having listened to their entire works . Generally i like every piece of jazz music i get to hear. Improvisation's always fresh!

I just listened to Fortune Faded, and it's the first time that I didn't like a Chili's/Frusciante song. Felt kinda cheap and he's playing an SG?!?!

How come you have not heard it before?
It was everywhere this time seven years ago. And I remember that it brought a lot of happiness to the dull autumn days to everyone.

Indeed it was. And it's not as cheap as he says. The guitar is heavier than usual, but nonetheless good, the lyrics are also good. i don't see why it would be cheap.
