why dont we get over it. one, we have no idea what the truth of the project is, we arent her... two, we are all john fans and would hate to see his name/image slandered or portrayed in an incorrect light, but we have no control over this...if this were to do with someone else, what do you think john would do? spend all his time spreading gossip, rumors, and hear-say around the internet or get on with his life and wait for whatever is gonna happen to happen???!!!

Im not sure which gossip and hear'say and rumours you're refering to. There are solid facts though; that two of us here have read the writers work and are of the opinion it was lazy, cliched and not remotely decent. That the writer posted on her own blog the she didnt know who John was a year ago. That the 'year' is actually six months as two of us were actually (along with several others) the people who informed her who John was. That she also states on her blog that 'I have never been a fan of red hot chili peppers, never owned a cd, never downloaded a song'. That she's touting the project as a story 'about music and the guitar'.

Does it matter what John would do in the same position? Im not all that interested in imitating how he would handle various situations. I am interested in the person described above potentially being the one who will be telling his story. As a fan i have no confidence in the project and that saddens me. As a fan i am angry that this woman feels she is entitled to tell Johns story when i doubt she could even rattle off half of a track list of any Frusciante solo/chilis record. In six months she has managed to learn about Johns life and music from absolute scratch while writing a final draft screenplay that will do the characters justice and getting it into pre production stage? I seriously doubt it.
This woman cannot possibly have the knowledge, understanding, appreciation of or investment in her subject in order to pull this off with any truth, dignity or credibility.

I dont think im overreacting, I feel more than uneasy and angry about how this will turn out. I think any fan with a respect for John and a love of his music would agree that this lady should not be responsible for bringing Johns story to the screen if it has to be done at all.
I want to be excited about the prospect of someone i have great admiration for and who has created music i love being committed to celluloid. I don't want to feel queezy and pi$$ed off about it.
I'd even bet most of us here could write a more insightful, realistic and heartfelt script than this woman could possibly be capable of writing in the time she has had and with the writing skills she (apparently doesnt) have.
Which it troubling to say the least.

Looks cheesy as fuck. lol

Just a man... a guitar...

And TOO MUCH SOUL. XD oh gawd

An interesting movie could be made about John, but for it to be good and interesting, it would have to be similar to the movie Social Network. Mark Zuckerberg was not cast as a hero or idol. The best movies present the hero or protagonist in a way that makes them seem quite flawed, with the fruit of their work questionable in it's wider reaching consequences. The best a movie about Frusciante could be would be a movie that makes a larger social commentary and paints the protagonist as confused and ambiguous in worth.

everyone needs to calm down really and understand/realize that this movie will probably never happen. she's trying to raise funds for it. if you got no funds, you got no people willing to put in their valuable time and resources to do it. at best, she'll be working with first time amateurs straight off the bus from butt fucking nowhere. anyone who she cons into giving her money for this movie will never see a dime of it back. she has no prior film making experience, as evident by her imdb, and it is highly likely that this production, if it came to fruition, would very quickly fall apart. the only thing everyone is doing by even giving this more than a second thought is generating buzz for her. dont buy into it. by all accounts this person is an over night 'fan' and is looking to make a name for themselves.

I agree with you and normally I wouldn't give her two seconds of attention but there are several things that make me worry about all this. First of all it seems that part of his fanbase are excited about this project, which is part of the reason I decided to write all this. Secondly if it actually gets done fans will probably see it, and that honestly worries me as she could have included things in her script that the world doesn't need to know or get reminded of. No matter if it's in a pro or an amateur movie. I just don't feel good about this.

This women sounds completely derranged... I do not trust her nor what she says. She seems like she is a whole basket short of a picnic. I know I sound judgemental but I don't like what I see.. it just doesn't feel right.
Well it seems like times elapsed and I've stabbed life in the back I'm searching for what it means to never be anything.

Firstly, John Frusciante has influenced me heavily, as a person and a musician. And in my opinion, even if this film somehow turns out really well, i still don't think this film should be made at all. Through being a fan of JF for very long and listening to literally all of his music/interviews, i just feel uncomfortable about this idea... John's life and music is something you have to dig deep into... it shouldn't be something that is just easy to understand and to be applicable for everybody to watch. Because its not. His life is REAL. To me, when this film comes out, his life will be seen as fake, and 'scripted'... I may be leaping too far into it, but just knowing that she didn't even know anything about him a few months back is just appalling.

Fincher, good choice! Nolan would be another good director too.

I know a lot of people are not going to like it, but I think a Tim Burton movie about his life would be interesting too...

I hope this gets made, I think it'd be really interesting to get that kind of perspective on Frusciante. It's kinda hard to see him from someone else's point of view when you're a big RHCP fan, so this could be cool. (I don't really think of his personal life much, except for the occasional "jesus, that guy is fucking crazy/weird" so it'll be nice to get some insight.)

"Well, it was put to me by "that guy" when I was, like, four. So I went into my parents' record collection and found a rock'n'roll compilation. And when my mom asked if I wanted to move to L.A., I said, "Yeah," because I knew that was where the rock stars were. I was seven. Then when I found punk and listened to the Germs, I started seeing how I was part of this. I remember being out on the baseball field when I was 11, and I felt like such an outsider. Standing there in right field, I started making up an angry punk song in my head, and I went home and wrote, like, 20 songs in a row. I realized it didn't even matter if I knew how to play guitar yet." -John Frusciante

You're either taking the piss or missing a lot. This person HAS NO CLUE about John Frusciante's personal life.

Well sure, he's a fairly private guy. Point is, she's read up on him and gotten some kind of material down, so that's more than I've got already. I'm not gonna go reading up on the random details of this guy's life; I like the way he plays the guitar, I don't worship him, right? So a little indie film would be kinda cool and get me a little insight that I wouldn't have unless I did creepy shit like read scour through interview after interview to find out facts about his childhood and whatnot. I'm not looking for a perfectly reliable source, I just want a feel for what his life's been like. This'll provide that kind insight.

There's a difference between "not worshipping him" and "wanting everything someone thinks his life is about to be exposed". And in such a case, the line is not thin at all. Also, you're contradicting yourself...you're constantly saying that you're not worshipping him, yet you'd watch this if it ever gets released...?!

A little indie film? I just imagined a bunch of hipsters on skateboards and something like that nonsense Twilight vampire baseball scene. That would actually be fun, but I doubt the author and the team (if there is any kind of a team) behind this one would be able to get enough funds for such special effects. Nope-nope-nope!

She/the author apparently got her material on various websites, including this one, copied half of someone's script about a totally different person and more or less made up the rest. While the author is absolutely allowed to share her fiction according to what I know about laws in your country (the same way another author is totally allowed to make up her Layne Staley book which is probably never going to be out...); it's very strange of people, mostly the Brazilian "fanbase" to expect all of this to be real, reliable and a fair account on John Frusciante's life.

Therefore, this is not a reliable source. And you should have read this thread more carefully before you left your super-enthusiastic reply.

Watching a movie about the guy isn't obsessing about him, man. Neither is reading a book. Going through every damn interview is. Hell, I read two biographies of Alexander Graham Bell, and I sure as hell don't worship that guy.

As far as wild inaccuracies go, I don't think anybody's gonna get a really accurate picture of his life without Frusciante up and explaining everything he remembers, then going to his sister, his parents, his friends, his teachers, etc. I'm sure if she really scoured this site and a few others she'll have a factual framework to work from and just take creative license with some of the details. I'm not asking for it to be true-to-life, I just want a feel for what his past was like.

I'm a fan of John Frusciante, but it sometimes feel like that word means a lot more than what it usually means around here.

See now this is different. Lady is not certifiably insane (or at least hasn't yet been certified), but I'm convinced she isn't entirely healthy. Clearly the bitch belongs in the tabloids.
