Who would you love John to collaborate with?

what would be your dream Frusciante collaboration?
Some of his best music I think has been made with Josh and Omar, but if in my mind a collab with Jeff Mangum from Neutral Milk Hotel would be amazing... however ridiculously unlikely to happen!

exactly who I was going to say.
Maybe Josh Homme, too... a Desert Sessions with John would be very cool... or better yet a Desert Sessions with John and Thom!

"Well, it was put to me by "that guy" when I was, like, four. So I went into my parents' record collection and found a rock'n'roll compilation. And when my mom asked if I wanted to move to L.A., I said, "Yeah," because I knew that was where the rock stars were. I was seven. Then when I found punk and listened to the Germs, I started seeing how I was part of this. I remember being out on the baseball field when I was 11, and I felt like such an outsider. Standing there in right field, I started making up an angry punk song in my head, and I went home and wrote, like, 20 songs in a row. I realized it didn't even matter if I knew how to play guitar yet." -John Frusciante

that would be cool. Radiohead (and hence Thom Yorke) are among my top 3 or so favourites. I know that Thom Yorke likes John Frusciante - he's mentioned it in interviews. He never said anything directly about his solo music, but he talked about his guitar playing, and said how he (Thom) tried to copy his (John's) guitar style because it's so awesome, in Reckoner: and he's doing the same "John" thing in this new song called The Present Tense:

i would LOVE to see that. i didn't get into John's solo music early enough to have had any sort of chance to see a solo show. however, that doesn't really count as a collaboration! but yes, i'd love that.

similarly, i'd love to see him live with a band - maybe Josh on drums and someone else on bass, playing stuff from (or like) the Will to Death and Inside of Emptiness albums.

i agree about Josh, but don't necessarily agree about the "not all John" thing. but yeah - John collaborates with Josh all the time, and it's always amazing, so i'd like to see that collaboration, but really, we already have heard this combination many many times, so we're lucky!
now for my answer to this thread - Neil Young. it's not just that i'm a fan of Neil Young, but it's the fact that their approach to music is so similar in certain ways, yet so different in other ways, i think they would complement each other really well. they both have the same attitude of just letting the music flow, and they have this natural energy of music spilling out of them. but John thinks a lot more. he thinks about production and patterns and sort of crafts things, always incorporating his natural intuitive feel. Neil doesn't think - he just plays, and it's really awesome as art. but together, John would bring things out of Neil that Neil may not have ever known he had. Artistically, they'd be on the same page, but they'd have different roles. it would be really cool. and if you bring up the new Neil Young album, his productional collaboration with Daniel Lanois, yes, that's similar, but I think John F and Neil Y have more in common than Neil Y and Daniel L do, from an artistic/aesthetic point of view. i wonder if this makes any sense. this would be a dream come true for me, and i'm sure it would be a dream come true for many people too - they might not even know it yet, but when they heard the result, they'd understand!

I agree, John & Neil would be AWESOME! Have you heard the new Neil Young album yet? 'Le Noise', I've only listened to it once but it sounded GREAT, possibly his best tunes since Sleeps With Angels?
You can still hear it on this website I think >
