Dear Fellow John fans,

I wrote a new six-issue comic book series called IDES OF BLOOD which comes out on August 18 from Wildstorm (a division of DC Comics). It's a project I began working on years ago, and much of it was written while listening to John's music. I'd say early drafts were probably written while listening to Inside of Emptiness and a Sphere in the Heart of Silence. The most recent polishes were scribbled under the thrall of the Empyrean.

The story takes place in an alternate history where Julius Caesar conquered Transylvania, making vampires Rome's new slave class and ultimately paving the way for his own assassination. Underneath all that, it is about how we all forge our own chains, enslaving ourselves to certain people, ideas or fears. It is also an exploration of the relationship between history and immorality, between legend and lies.

Since this is my first comic, I could use all the support I can get. If you are interested, you can order the comic online from any number of retailers by googling Ides of Blood, or you can pre-order it from your local comic store. Go to www.comicshoplocater.com if you don't know where the closest comic store is. If you've never read comics before, now is the time! Thanks for your support (or just for reading).

First of all, this is STUNNING! I had no idea you were an artist and now that I know, I would love to see more of your art!

As a fan of alternate history and a writer of a poetry book that's partly alternate history (just had a weird Byzanthine priest who might actually be a Frank convert a rebel Slavic female fisherman to Christianity through a couple of odd tricks...), here's the least I can do for someone who's shed light on so many things so many times and has been the community's lighthouse:

I am willing to offer you a whole news post, tweet about this a couple of times and put it on Facebook fan page and Last.fm group once. :) I only need your permission for that, I won't do anything unless you allow me to.

Also, something I repeat all over again, everywhere, and nobody seems to read it: if you want your link to get clicks, add http://. For most of the websites, www. is not even necessary and it is deprecated, but http:// is what makes a link work. :)

Thanks, Iva! I would love any help you have to offer in spreading the news about the comic. Your Byzantine poems sound intriguing. Here is a smattering of links to some reviews, interviews and my blog from whence all these links can be accessed in one place.
