Hey guys.
In this topic I'd like to highlight the question of that Percussion (muted) funky strokes, that John used too often with RHCP.
I guess everyone understood what im talking about. If not look at the intro. He plays 2 notes at a time, and then 2 muted strokes.
So what is my question:\
At home I have a small tube 10W amp. And the strokes sound really good, but when I come to the studios with more powefull amps like Marshall JCM 2000 and so on.. these muted strokes sound too loud! I do not know why, even if I dont hit the strings so hard.
What should I do to make them sound quieter, like at my home amp, like we can hear from John??
Muted Strokes toneHow to get the right volume

Maybe use less gain and/or distortion. I really don't know.
But I recommend everyone watch the video and pay close attention at about 2:22.

Hm, I do not use distortion when Im playing it at all.
Its like at home notes are much louder than strokes and in studio with the powerfull amp, they are of the same loundness. hm

Ryanliamg, thanx alot!
The problem was resolved by putting gain down and maximazing the overall volume.
