Ever since seeing John on the front cover of guitarist magazine back in 2003 holding his Fiesta Red Jaguar I have wanted one. When I got work experience at turn ket soho soundhouse on charing cross road I would always blag my way into making it look like I was doing work by "cleaning" (playing) the Fender Jags they had there but I never had much money I never thought I would get one.
But today it finally arrives! A Candy apple red beauty of a classic player Fender Jaguar! I was hoping for surf green and a matching headstock but that dosnt matter as long as I can get that axe in my hands ahhhh Iv never been so excited about a guitar and I always get excited about guitars!!

You are both lucky and unlucky at the same time.

Unlucky:
The Classic Player Jaguar is not even close to being the same guitar as a true vintage or an American/Japanese Reissue. The Japanese ones actually all have matching headstocks, come in all the custom colors, and are the same price as the classic player. What are the key differences between the vintage/reissue and the Classic Player? The Classic Player has a bigger radius neck, the tremolo has been moved closer to the bridge/pickups, it's pickups are hotter, not as smooth as the old ones, and the switches are wired poorly.

Lucky:
The Classic Player is not a piece of junk like the old style jaguars. It wont bust a string out of its barrel every 2 songs, you dont have to adjust your volume between guitars as much as it has about the same output as the bridge of a tele and the pickups of strat. The paintjob will last forever because it is 100% poly.

If you don't end up liking that jaguar, send it back. I can recommend you to a good sight to get a Japanese Re-Issue from. It won't have a matched headstock, but you can get that done at any good guitar shop for about $100
1962 Strat - Sunburst
1965 Jaguar - Fiesta Red
2005 Strat Amvintage 1962- Fiesta Red w/ matched headstock
2007 Jag Amvintage 1962- Ice Blue w/ matched headstock
2007 Strat Amvintage 1962- Sunburst
2007 Tele Amvintage 1962- Antique Burst
2008 Squier Strat- Sunburst
2008 Firebird Custom Shop, Black and Chrome w/ matched headstock
2010 MJT S-Style Clone - a clone of my 1962, made so I wouldn't have to worry about theft of my original.

Fair points but I had to go with what I could find. I searched all the way from Penzance to London and this was definatly the best I found except for one but that was snapped up just before I managed to get it.
I would of loved a matching head stock but thats only a minor detail, at the end of the day wether its a re-issue a vintage or a classic player its still a Fender Jaguar and I love mine.
Also being from London I cant work in dollars so unfortuntly I dont think I would of been able to use your links and once you add on shipping from America I think I would rather the classic player.

Anyways as promised, pictures!

I love this guitar I love playing it I love listening to the sounds it makes I love just lying back on my bed and looking at it hanging on the wall its so beautiful. Usually whenever I get a guitar im thinking ok I like this aspect of it but theres a few things I need to change and do it over the years but this is the first time I have been 100% happy with one and I cant wait to jam it with the volume turned up with my band.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the world of Jaguars! Is that a tune-o-matic bridge you have on it?

I purchased a sunburst Japanese RI a few months ago. I immediately swapped the stock pickups to a pair of Seymour Duncan Antiquities and they sound unbelievable. I can get the BSSM tones effortlessly (love the neck pickup). Also had to drop a mustang bridge in it, the stock one was wonky. It's my favorite guitar i own now!

Yup its a tune-o-matic bridge and so far has held great. On most Jags people tend to put a Mustang bridge on but on these classic players they have moved the Bridge so hopefuly it should hold better and a Mustang bridge wont be needed but im keeping an open mind on that if it will improve the guitar.
Ahh I have heard such good things about the Seymour Duncan Antiquities if I had the money I would put them in a couple of my guitars but unfortuntly lack of funds and saving up for a Fender tube amp but one day as they are amazing. Isnt that what John has in his Strats now?

Yeah I've heard John is a big fan of them. I've heard decent things about the stock pups in the Classic Player Jags though, they should hold you over till you are able to replace them. I've also heard really great things about the other Seymour Duncan pickups for jags that are a bit more reasonably priced.

Nah, you need a full scale guitar for the Strat sound. It just isn't the same.
"Take that fucking sign down." -John Frusciante

"Well, it was put to me by "that guy" when I was, like, four. So I went into my parents' record collection and found a rock'n'roll compilation. And when my mom asked if I wanted to move to L.A., I said, "Yeah," because I knew that was where the rock stars were. I was seven. Then when I found punk and listened to the Germs, I started seeing how I was part of this. I remember being out on the baseball field when I was 11, and I felt like such an outsider. Standing there in right field, I started making up an angry punk song in my head, and I went home and wrote, like, 20 songs in a row. I realized it didn't even matter if I knew how to play guitar yet." -John Frusciante
