It's really that simple, I would like to know the guitars both acoustic and electric. All if possible, with an emphasis on his main used.
I'm aware that John currently uses a 15 Martin from the 50s for all his work and most previously. But I'm fairly confident his guitars used for that album were not so.
My guesses would be D18s, D28s and such... But I'll never know to someone tells me~
Anyways much appreciated!!!
P.S. Bonus points if you can tell me the acoustic he uses for "I could of lied"
Thanks~

Well, if you look at the VPRO videos, there is an old (and less expensive-looking) red/orange classical guitar that he plays in one of the songs he does for the interviewers. Any quick listen to many of the songs will reveal that it is almost undoubtedly the same classical.
Also, my suspicions of this were reaffirmed when I considered his mental state and the notion that he was probably largely plagued by nostalgia.
If you look at some pictures of him as a young boy, one of the most popular pictures is him with a guitar - the same classical. He's had it since he was a boy.
I don't know about the electric - I would guess it was his '67 (or whatever) stratocaster that you see so often - but I could be wrong. As far as acoustic, though, that classical had a lot to do with Niandra.

i would say that he used that nylon stringed acoustic in the VPRO videos, but he didnt get the famous 62 strat until after the niandra era.
any electrics you hear on the album are probably jaguars. i know he had two, a blue one, and a sherwood green one

Wierd, my earlier post came out way wrong.
Are you trying to emulate the sound or just curious? I ask because I've found the cheaper and mellower the acoustic the closer I get to the sound of that album. I've been jamming a lot of Niandra on an old Harmony archtop lately and I've been real pleased with the similarity. I'm also guessing that the overall sound and timbre of the entire album has loads to do with it being recorded on a 4 track cassette recorder (am I correct?) Particularly because the sound is very similar when you plug an electric directly through distortion into one of these things.
I'm fairly certain that if you find out what guitars he was using as his main's on Blood Sex you'll find what he used on Niandra since he recorded it in the mansion while they were making that album. Or so I have read.

Ten to blood butter voodoo sounds like an ibanez but who knows. Yeah! more Niandra discussions man I love it! Mascara and blood butter have consumed large portions of my days. And untitled 16 and pussy's glued fuck man I absolutely love this album.

He recorded the most songs in the mansion and on the Blood Sugar Sex Magik/Less Whores More Museums tour (only "Running Away Into You" was recorded AFTER the time in the Chili Peppers). That means, he got some Martin acoustics, some Strats, his Jag, a Les Paul, his Ibanez, ...
That's what I know

I'm not a 100% sure but i think i've seen pictures of him palying something like a tobbacco sunburst epiphone casino or possibly a gibson es335 during that era.
Something like that anyway. Wouldn't have a clue on which songs he's used them on though.

I know what you mean. I think that was the guitar he played the intro to "The Righteous & The Wicked" with. But I'm not sure
Look at the picture. That's the same guitar you can see sometimes in the mansion when you watch "Funky Monks". The guitar was lying around all the time on the floor.

That's a Danelectro U1.
I think Anthony used that guitar also on Tour.
