Hey guys,
Im just wondering if any if you know what pedal John uses at the very beginning to speed up the sound of the chord. I know I'm probably not using proper terminology but I hope you guys now what I mean haha

Its like RIGHT at the beginning

Thanks,
Zach

It's a delay,I guess this one: BOSS DM-2 Analog Delay (my main guess!)
he added it sometime during the sa tour.he had a DigiTech PDS 1002 Digital Delay before.

and he also used a Line 6 DL4 Delay Modeler.

my guess is he's adjusting a delay pedal. if you pick a note, and then move the timing of the delay, it has a "fast forwarding" sound. The rest of the jam is played with a slight delay, so i'm thinking he played his first few notes...realized it wasn't how he wanted the delay to sound...adjusted the delay (you hear the note speeding up)...and when he dialed it in they started the jam

edit: you beat me to it!

Im pretty sure he's just adjusting the setting son his delay pedal. If you listen to the jam you can tell he has a slapback echo on his guitar. I'd say that right before they started he was adjusting the delay time. When you play a note into a delay and then speed up the delay speed it sounds as if youre speeding up tape, but it only lasts for as long as the delayed notes are playing, anything you play after will just sound normal.

BTW this jam is awesome! You can totally hear the Omar influence in both flea and John, which is not something you see often at a peppers show.

EDIT: lol beaten to it a while ago, sorry
