Hi,
I'm a proud owner of the DOD Fx65 Chorus Pedal, the Pedal that John used (beside the CE-1) on the Mothers Milk tour and on the Blood Sugar Album to get that chorus-like sound. Does anyone have it here too and what do you think of this Pedal?
I think it's a wonderful Pedal!

cheers! :D

i'm not picky either. But it's the first chorus pedal i bought. i think it works great you can even use it as a rotary sound when you set the speed very high.

I would suggest you try these things out instead of Google-ing Frusciante's gear. The most important assets to Frusciante's tone are incredibly expensive amps at high volumes; the rest is just pizazz.
"Take that fucking sign down." -John Frusciante

"Well, it was put to me by "that guy" when I was, like, four. So I went into my parents' record collection and found a rock'n'roll compilation. And when my mom asked if I wanted to move to L.A., I said, "Yeah," because I knew that was where the rock stars were. I was seven. Then when I found punk and listened to the Germs, I started seeing how I was part of this. I remember being out on the baseball field when I was 11, and I felt like such an outsider. Standing there in right field, I started making up an angry punk song in my head, and I went home and wrote, like, 20 songs in a row. I realized it didn't even matter if I knew how to play guitar yet." -John Frusciante

You know, I haven't bought the Pedal because Frusciante had it. I just wanted a analog Chorus Pedal. I came across on this site http://www.pedalarea.com/choruses.htm. I read there that the dod pedal has the same bucket brigades as the boss ce-2. At that time I didn't know that John used that pedal. So I bought the pedal, tried it and I liked it. I just have read it recently that frusciante used it at the mm-bssm era.

Ah, good man! Just tryin' to save you from making an expensive mistake with your gear. (Never heard of the pedal before, so I was a little wary.)

It's ok..the Pedal itself wasn't expensive. 15€ on ebay!
I'm trying to make a demo of it in the next days.

Wowfuckingdamn! Hot find man!

(By the way, my license to criticize is temporarily revoked, I picked up a pack of .60mm Dunlop tortex picks the other day. It's understandable and forgivable but they were orange, and there's just no other reason for that.)

On an unrelated note, I recently got a Big Pi Muff w/Tone Wicker distortion, and it's not really doing what I wanted it to. (I wanted to get sort of a Led Zeppelin sort of distortion out of it.) Any suggestions on settings or on what I could replace it with to actually get that Zeppelin tone?

i feel like the big muff was prob too thick for zeppelin tone. i dont know much about the tone wicker muff, i just have an nyc, but im thinking you'd want something more along the lines of a tube screamer or even just a ds-1 for jimmys tone. humbuckers would help too

I know, humbuckers would be a godsend, but I'm using a strat, and the pickups aren't changing. DS-1 isn't quite what I need. I need the low notes to have that bluesy sorta sound like a door that need oil when you bend them and the high notes to have a high pitched scream. Thought the tone wicker and some fuzz would take care of that, but it wasn't the case. Blackstar HT-5's tubes just aren't right for it, I'm thinking about replacing them with the tubes to a Marshall 1959 SLP or a Vox AC30.

I suppose I could do with a Boss BD-2 and a Treble Booster? Any recommendations on treble boosters?

Thanks, you know, the pedal isn't very popular so if you also want to buy it, you'll get it at a cheap price!

The SAME thing happened to me. I didn't wanna spend too much on a chorus since I figured I wont be using it much. So I bought a FX65 off eBay for a mere $ 32 (including shipping). When I got it I was like "WOAH! This is even better than the CE-2 I played through!" After 6 months of owning it I still feel so, so you know it wasn't just the honeymoon love talking. And much to my surprise I later found out out that John used the same chorus on BSSM! So I went "WOAH!" again. :D
