I'd only buy a relic guitar, because those guys know what they're doing and I don't, so I wouldn't mess with texas

I personally hate the idea, I think it would make John's guitar LESS special if everyone had one just like it and I highly doubt John would like the commercialisation element of it.

well, he doesn't have to make it commercial, he can just make a deal with fender to make something like 10 copies of it and give them for free to the people on the yfigtasof board (us)
I don't think it would make it less special, I think it would make it even more special. I mean, do the reissues of vintage guitars make originals less special? well, certainly not, but that's just my opinion...
