How can you be ready to lay down so much cash for a pedal without even a basic knowledge of the concept behind what moogerfoogers do - which is taking ideas from analog modular synths and applying them to guitar.

Google "subtractive synthesis" and in there you will read about low pass filters. It's one of the most fundamental aspects of subtractive synthesis.
