I'd buy that tape in a heartbeat if I had the cash to spare. I've seen it on eBay a couple of times, but the last time was years and years ago. Great collectible!

How much are you actually expecting for it?

i'm glad you asked that iva.

for the vhs i expect to get what i put into it. i bought that vhs on ebay years ago now. the versions of 'stuff' floating around then were from very bad higher generations on vhs that, i'm assuming, been converted from PAL to NTSC to PAL back to NTSC. this assumption is based on my years now in video production. only it must have been done on a consumer level because those copies would not be broadcast compliant.

when i bought it i did it with the intent to share it with what was then the relatively small group of jf fans. did not realize the full impact of the net then as i do now.

but the tape cost me $200. no joke. i placed my high bid at that and someone tried to get it at the last moment and kept driving the price up. in hindsight now i should have let the other bidder have it. i know no one is going to pay that much for this video. but i'm glad i was able to share this story. people are clueless as to what it takes to bring them content. they think everything comes magically out of thin air and costs nothing.

yes, this came from $200 worth of nothing. that was why i said 'your welcome internet community'.

all these items are rare. when's the next time you think you'll a poster for john's viper room show? seeing as how they were only up at the viper room and only a few days before the actual show i'm going to say never. i pulled it off the walls. same with the smile poster. you may see the smile poster but are you gonna see it signed?

Why do you sell it? I totally understand you. No matter how available [almost] everything is today on the internet, I think I would never sell these things. I have some rarities [of some other bands] and I'm emotionally attached to them..some things have no price.
the dream came true!

because i've helped contribute to this community and john's legacy. it's time for me to contribute to my own.

it cost's $500 to have 100 7" vinyl made. i play music as well. i've got enough songs for a 7" EP.
i'd like to contribute to my own legacy away from here in the physical world around me. be able to sell my OWN merch of a tangible item ALL my own. i have aspirations beyond being known as the guy that video taped john's shows. i've played music since i was in the 2nd grade but don't have anything to show for it really. i'd like to start, even if it's this late in the game. as ian mckaye sings 'i was early to finish i was late to start'.
it's not like if john has his own label. and if he did i doubt he'd sign a fan and help them. so i take my punk rock d.i.y. ethics to heart. if i could i'd buy a lathe cutting machine instead but don't have the space or that kind of capital.
but if i sell off my collectible items i might be able to raise the money to have my EP made. will anyone buy it? probably not but at least i'll have tried and failed rather than not tried at all. it's tough watching all the people around you for years now start off small from nothing and become something while you remain the same. i like change too.
make sense?

It does make sense except selling part. Like selling collectible items is the only way a guy can get 500 bucks.
