Why do you sell it? I totally understand you. No matter how available [almost] everything is today on the internet, I think I would never sell these things. I have some rarities [of some other bands] and I'm emotionally attached to them..some things have no price.
because i've helped contribute to this community and john's legacy. it's time for me to contribute to my own.
it cost's $500 to have 100 7" vinyl made. i play music as well. i've got enough songs for a 7" EP.
i'd like to contribute to my own legacy away from here in the physical world around me. be able to sell my OWN merch of a tangible item ALL my own. i have aspirations beyond being known as the guy that video taped john's shows. i've played music since i was in the 2nd grade but don't have anything to show for it really. i'd like to start, even if it's this late in the game. as ian mckaye sings 'i was early to finish i was late to start'.
it's not like if john has his own label. and if he did i doubt he'd sign a fan and help them. so i take my punk rock d.i.y. ethics to heart. if i could i'd buy a lathe cutting machine instead but don't have the space or that kind of capital.
but if i sell off my collectible items i might be able to raise the money to have my EP made. will anyone buy it? probably not but at least i'll have tried and failed rather than not tried at all. it's tough watching all the people around you for years now start off small from nothing and become something while you remain the same. i like change too.
make sense?
