It's an interesting thought that the songs may be more popular if John played on them and somehow I don't think that John would've done the songs the same way. But if they sounded the same, I guess that they would be more popular because some people don't listen to it because they think about the circumstances under which the album had been created.

Warped : not bad
Aeroplane : quite good
Deep Kick : not good
My Friends : very good
Coffee Shop : not good
Pea : very good
One Big Mob : very good (yes!)
Walkabout : good
Tearjerker : very good (the best one of the album)
One Hot Minute : not bad
Falling Into Grace : very good
Shallow By The Game : not good
Transcending : quite good
Bonus :
Bob : quite good
Melancholy Mechanics : very good
I don't like hardcore, but all is not hardcore, and even some "hardcore" song are good.
A good album for me, even if I always skip some songs. But that's clear that the albums with John are much more better.

I kinda don't think of One Hot Minute as being by the Chili Peppers, I think of it as being by a band that happens to have Flea, Chad, and Anthony in but is not the chili peppers. To me calling the band the Red Hot Chili Peppers without having John in it feels kind of.....wrong or incomplete in some way.
If that made any sense at all, lol.

why do people hate this record because they don't like dave AS A PERSON? its about the music and i also disagree that dave is trying to sound like john. dave has a completely original style and if you listened with an open mind without thinking about how its not john, you would probably realise this (also listen to jane's addiction).
it seems to me that john doesn't play the songs from ohm out of respect for dave, because theyre songs he wrote guitar parts for (and since there are so many guitar tracks they are also pretty hard to play live anyway). dave had no choice but to play john songs and its awkward and everybody knows it (im sure dave does), but cmon they HAD to play john songs since they were popular singles and he by no means was trying to "be john"
the band has their own reasons that they don't really like the record, and it always seems to me that people are way too influenced by that and cannot even appreciate the music at all
its just the "alt rock" sound that was going on around the 90s. nothing hardcore here

and skip to 4:46 and watch that and tell me that dave navarro is trying to copy johns style. thats a unique thing
actually if you watch the whole dave master sessions videos on youtube you will see how dave works musically and it also shows (imo) that hes a friendly ego-less dude (just ignoring the nipple rings and stuff)

Jesus dude, get over it. Of course it has nothing to do with Dave as a person, that would be ridiculous. He was fine in JA, just didnt work with the Peppers chemistry, plain and simple. Theyve admitted this in countless interviews as well, sometimes blatant, sometimes veiled. Its just a lame album to me and it really shows. Most people here seem to like it though, and tha'ts all good as well. Just let it rest.
As for someone mentioning the pop element post OHM? What's so wrong with that? Theres so much more diversity and growth to revel in with their rejuvenation. I cant believe how much the modern Peppers gets dissed by the same token
