Ciao to all on this forum. My name is Adriano & i have been a fan of John since 1990. Thats really showing my age. When i was 15 in 1991 i was with my first real girl friend & I walked into a record store. I already had copies of Mothers Milk & The uplift mofo party plan but I didnt listen to them religiously. It was late noevember 91' & I purchased both Blood Sugar Sex Magic & Nevermind on Vinyl. My life web was spun in a different direction from then on. I found it impossible to not listen to Blood Sugar everyday. As i said i was a 15 year old experimenting with sex for the first time. That album was just so damn sexual. I enjoyed Nevermind but it didnt have the initial impact of Blood Sugar. I had become a fan of Hendrix the summer earlier & I truly believed Frusciante was the 'white hendrix'. I recall getting 'Funly Monks' the video & writing a letter to the fan club regarding a song that was partially sung on the making of "Blood Sugar". I actually got a reply stating the song was unreleased & called "Soul to squueze" & it would appear on a movie called Cone Heads.
Id just turned 16 by that stage & because they made the effort to get back to me I was thrilled. I was this snot nosed kid from melbourne Australian & I was so excited that someone around the band cared about my thoughts. I have never since written to a fan club. It was just after this I was guttered as I had tickets to see the RHCP in Melbourne & they cancelled the shows. It was because John had quit. They re-scheduled for about 8 months later but to be honest I didnt love the gig cause to me it just wasnt the RHCP without John. It was fun but lacking soul.
It was around this time that i fell in love with Nirvana, especially their B-sides & more punk rock sounding material. My mum was a huge fan of Cat stevens so I grew up listening to him, john lennon & simon & garfunkle. My dad isnt a music fan at all. i loved mudhoney, the wipers, public enemy, bob dylan, ice-t, metallica as well as midnight oil. Iv always loved musicians who push themselves or have something to say.
When i found out John was rejoining the RHCP i was so excited. I was shocked at the minimalistic approach he took to the guitar but I loved his harmonies. Since 99 I have purchased all of his solo cd's. My favourite band is the Mars Volta. I saw At the drive in 3 times & follow the Mars Volta in Brisbane & Melbourne everytime they play in Oz. The influence of Flea on De-loused in the comatorium & JOhn on every othealbum since that release has made them so interesting. I believe Omar & John have become better artists due to their friendship. We all know if Omar, JOhn, Cedric & Flea wanted to release 3-4 minute pop rock songs that raced up the charts & made them millions they could easily do it. I admire them for pushing themselves & being self indulgent. Isnt that what art is all about. Its funny to hear people whine about a John song being too repeatative or a Mars Volta song being too long. You know these artists will always stay true to themselves. thats what I love about them right or wrong.
I know this has been a little "self indulgent" (hahahaha) but I felt like giving a true indication of who I am
I am currently working on a fictious adlib acousitc music outfit I call "remanence of the clune"
http://www.myspace.c...nenceoftheclune
I write everything on the spot & simply put it down roughly on cool edit. I sing & play a little guitar. The 'Clune' is simply an exercise in discovering what comes to my head when I put no pressure on myself to write for an audience. The 'Clune' is a mythological character I created who is almost godlike. I am going to recortd an album with a bunch of friends in june/july. I am only pressing 200 copies as I do not expect it to have a wide audience & I am not going to puch it. I have played in other bands all over Australia but I chose to distance myself from commercial radio as it is not who I am.
Its a pleasure to be on this forum & I wish you all good will on your journeys through life.
peace

Wow! What can I say..I'm not 100% sure, but I think Nevermind & BSSM were released on the same day.. It's great to have you here!
I also like At the drive-in, The Mars Volta..but you can guess which band is my favorite one (for about 8 years..and it'll always be).
the dream came true!

Ciao e benvenuto, Adriano, nice to see such a wonderful introduction!
I thought you were a girl...and pregnant, perhaps because you never changed the profile icon and you said that you're awaiting a new member of the family. So, I feel totally stupid now.
And yes, I knew that Nevermind and BSSM were released on the same day, but I had no idea it was the same in all countries, as the encyclopedias always hold USA release dates.
Either way, I hope you'll love it here!
