What do you think about this song?

Frank settled down in the Valley, and he hung his wild years on a nail that he drove through his wife's forehead. He sold used office furniture out there on San Fernando Road and assumed a $30,000 loan at 15 1/4 % and put a down payment on a little two bedroom place. His wife was a spent piece of used jet trash Made good bloody-marys, kept her mouth shut most of the time, had a little Chihuahua named Carlos that had some kind of skin disease and was totally blind. They had a thoroughly modern kitchen; self-cleaning oven (the whole bit) Frank drove a little sedan. They were so happy. One night Frank was on his way home from work, stopped at the liquor store, picked up a couple of Mickey's Big Mouth’s. Drank 'em in the car on his way to the Shell station; he got a gallon of gas in a can. Drove home, doused everything in the house, torched it. Parked across the street laughing, watching it burn, all Halloween orange and chimney red. Frank put on a top forty station, got on the Hollywood Freeway headed North. Never could stand that dog.

Though I see something Ataxia-ish in it, too.
It was the song I couldn't get into for days, but last night I finally got into it.

After many listening I think it's quite a very good song. The guitar and the refrain

It was my least favourite on the first listen, but I gave it a second chance and fell in love with it. I don't get it why people dislike it.

i have a feeling is grea-t!! :0; ) :0
But what I know is great is this strange thing I have just done:
I put THE EMPYREAN on to play starting arranged by the duration of the songs!! Yes,
they play very well that way. There is a whole different set of emotions playing
above the music now. "GOD" as the opener is excellent!! "AFTER THE ENDING" as third
song is like a joy division masterpiece. "Central" is still a powerful one too!: )
I could go on about that... ; )
I hope that Swahili blonde do a version of "Three thoughts", what a great song that is : ) ...

Today will not be happening
We've come too far away from being to be at all
We're putting the law back in your hands
Kind of about disconnecting, as it seems to me.
The ending is very much Emyprean-ish as well, as a summary of the album:
Thank you for the lessons that I learned while John was sleeping
Whoever it seemed the creator did the teaching
The creator did the teaching
Then comes Ah Yom, when the two tracks actually come together, as they have the same name...

Iva, on 13 July 2010 - 03:23 PM, said:
I think that "the city has no people" refers to the same attitude expressed in songs like Invisible Movement. Plus, "they don't know who you are but they know who you will be" - sounds a lot like Shadows lyrics...
Notice "from the backseat I'll crash my car" - not only he does not have a driving license because he fears he will hit pepole (like myself), it's an interesting line. He crashes his "car" without even being the driver - perhaps because the supposed car doesn't have a driver.
Then come the next lines:
Incensed, I fool like a fool whem I'm feeling
Right off, this blossoming hurts, like I'm peeling
Oh God, I can't be found when I'm dreaming
Which to me sound like he's staying away because of the bad feeling when he opens himself up, something which I can relate to as well. Note previous works:
A Name:
Quote
And it will keep on coming back
A fool gets laughed at
And I'll go on and on and on
Letting it out when the feeling's strong
Quote
Was the safest thing to say
...
What we are we owe to the fear of love
So, seems like he's in the backseat of his life, not "driving" it, not controlling it (now it sounds more related to Ah Yom, doesn't it?
Just my two cents...

Also, I've just noticed that Today is my most played song on the album...I never actually knew that.
