Oh ya, I should post some fast versions of some of the songs, it is truly a new album when you speed it up. Or you can just download audacity for free and do it pretty easily.

And I listened to your version Good Times Boys and that what mine sounds like. I think he did another affect on it too, its like um.... heavy... or muddled... I can sense his real voice in there somewhere.
I could be happy in infinity of the space of my eyelid but I know I’m somewhere else, Where the words on this page are better than the scribbling nonsense they are.

'Normal' pitch is awesome, but I don't mind the 'original'...what I do mind is the damn solo that pretty much ruins 'Enough of Me' for me

Wha???? That solo is pure awesomeness and one of my favourite parts of the whole album. Enough of Me would just be an average song without that kickass solo.

I didn't like the solo much at first, either. After listening to the album a bit more though, I don't think I could even imagine the song without it.

Ditto. As I said in the thread about that song, at the beginning it really sounded as someone stuck a post-it on the song, as it was suddenly some other song.

One More Of Me is brilliant. John's words are just too good.

I totally agree...
Every time I listen to this song I feel really peaceful...
“Nobody sits like this rock sits.
You rock, rock.
The rock just sits and is.
You show us how to just sit here and that’s what we need.”

It's one of the silliest thing I've heard, that John's vocals would be treated. That is, without any doubts, his natural voice.

Agreed, dagge. I never even considered the idea of that vocal being treated. It's only natural that an artist like John who is constantly trying to improve would also try new voices as well. It took me a second to get used to, but I love it. I was amused by the posts about being embarrassed to listen to this song around other people. I usually don't even bother listening to John with most people because they just don't get it, and that's fine. But I can relate to the embarrassment. My girlfriend thinks this song is laughably bad. To hell with her. Hahaha

Hey folks!! A lot of people are arguing that this isn't his real voice... so I decided to do a "proof of concept" type thing. Basically, I covered the first bit of the song to show that you can sing that low. Obviously mine isn't that good, but Frusciante with 20+ years of singing experience can do it infinitely times better than me. I just wanted to show that it's completely possible that this is his actual voice.

The video was shot and trimmed on my Iphone, so I cut off the very end where I'm talking. I was just saying how it's possible, if not likely, that this is Frusciante's unaltered voice.

Here's the video. And again, it's not that good... I've only been singing for a while on and off, and have zero experience with 'deep' singing. However, I'm suprised how this turned out.

I'm not going to say it isn't his voice but I recall an interview around the release of Shadows Collide where he was asked if Anthony felt left out because Flea and Chad were on the album but not him and he said that he had asked Anthony that if he needed him, would he be on the album. He went on to state that most people don't know that Anthony is a very good baritone singer and he himself (John) isn't able to go that low.

But that was years ago and I'm sure he could sing that low now, but I don't doubt he would treat his voice, he's always doing something new. It's probably just another instrument to him in some aspects. To me his voice reflects a change in the character.

Haha. Thanks! I've been a huge Frusciante fan, and have had an account here for a bit... but I've been lurking mostly. But when I read this thread I just felt the need to get involved!

Glad to be part of this forum! Thanks again.

I had doubts about this song to, wether is was his real or treated voice. But what made me realise that it's treated is the scream at 0:28. You can't scream in a lower tone that your orginal. Try yourself..

Now that you mention it, I think you're right. Does seem to sound a bit off.
