Frank settled down in the Valley, and he hung his wild years on a nail that he drove through his wife's forehead. He sold used office furniture out there on San Fernando Road and assumed a $30,000 loan at 15 1/4 % and put a down payment on a little two bedroom place. His wife was a spent piece of used jet trash Made good bloody-marys, kept her mouth shut most of the time, had a little Chihuahua named Carlos that had some kind of skin disease and was totally blind. They had a thoroughly modern kitchen; self-cleaning oven (the whole bit) Frank drove a little sedan. They were so happy. One night Frank was on his way home from work, stopped at the liquor store, picked up a couple of Mickey's Big Mouth’s. Drank 'em in the car on his way to the Shell station; he got a gallon of gas in a can. Drove home, doused everything in the house, torched it. Parked across the street laughing, watching it burn, all Halloween orange and chimney red. Frank put on a top forty station, got on the Hollywood Freeway headed North. Never could stand that dog.

Wow wowwow...

I love it, especially the transition between the dark/light part. Unfortunately I don't have my good earphones here in the dorm and my laptop speakers are not enough to make out the words correctly... A shame really. I love the way it sounds...

I love the first part of this song....but the ending drags on a bit too long for my liking. It kind of ruins it for me.

It's absolutely wonderful! Love how it really does go from dark to light if you know what I mean.
John's totally got a new sound going on.

Great production, vox treatment etc. Like there's another song tagged on, hence the dark/light thing I guess. The bass and choir-like mix in the second half is out of this world. Yup, definitely a winner.

Yeah, some real great bass in the 2nd half of this song. Flea should really play on every Frusciante song, he adds a whole new dimension to them.

The "Dark" part brought tears to my eyes. The "Light" part came from nowhere!
Definitely my favorite.

Oh my jeebus! Other than Unreachable, this is the only other song I've listened to from the album so far...Just wow...The first three minutes gave me goosebumps. Flea's bass - amazing. I honestly don't know what else to say...The melodies stay true to the song's title.

Maked me laugh so much at the first listen and at the transition Dark>Light

So beautifull : the dark, the light, the choir, the bass, John's voice, ... And the length of the song, perfect.

^^
Welcome. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I agree with Songofthunder that the Light part could've been a little shorter, but on the other end, perhaps the point is that the good [light] outdoes the bad [dark]...?!

Dark is so wonderfully ambiental and I love how static it is, in some way.

I love the first line of Light so much. Incredible. And the whole thought of John actually singing lead vocals to a gospel choir makes me really happy of how much he's advanced as a musician.

And just like I have made up a video for Central in my mind, I have made up a video for this one, too. Without any scary experiences preceeding the write-up this time.

Yeah that part at the beginning of "Light" where John leads the choir is absolutely out of this world. I wish that part went on for longer, instead of the next part repeating for so long. The next part is great too, but I think 5 minutes of repeating is a bit too long. But then again... who am I to question John?
