I don't know all of the exact modules John uses, but there is some general information.

Well if you look at that site, you can see the price really depends on how many modules you get. A typical setup would probably run you around $1600 US or more. Just to let you know, if you don't know anything/a lot about synthesis this is NOT a good place to jump in. Modular synthesizers are rather complicated, and you wouldn't be able to get a lot of usable (or any) sounds out of it if you don't know anything about sound synthesis. If you are interested in buying an A100, you can go to doepfer's website http://www.doepfer.de/home_e.htm and I think they have all the info there.

I think John has a quite big system, I'd guess he have almost all of them (why should't he?), but you could get a good starter kit with the A100 BS1.

If you only want to use it to do sound processing (like plugin a guitar into it), and that's what John does mostly, you would want something like their suggested 'Sound Processing System 1'.

thanks to all of you! I'm learning a lot about modular synthesizers, that's what I've been doing lately. I'm too curious about this one. Thanks Siberian Khatru for the link and swatdk for the information. that was all (:
