[CAP0 CRIMINI]

Anyone notice that he starts playing dani with a telecaster then switches to the strat? Its been picking my brain for some reason,, did they split the filming into two, or did he use a delay to continue the strumming while he switched guitars or something.

that's actually a common occurrence among non-musician editors (or careless editors i guess); they use short bits of footage to fill out parts of the video. so short, in fact, that you can't tell it's not him playing the same song. he's using the strat the whole time in the song.

At 34 seconds in there is a close up and it's the tele and at 43 seconds in there is a pan out and he's playing the strat so I guess they did a couple of run throughs and he played it straight through with both and as alexpigment said they cobbled them together rather carelessly!

I'm much prefer to see him playing it through several times with either guitar!

Has anyone noticed at about 3 mins in when it's coming to the start of the chorus John goes right up to the mic ready to pipe in and then suddenly realises it's not yet, backs off and then comes in for the next line?!

Really I'm sure I would make better use of my time going to bed rather than sitting here amusing myself disecting a video of John playing guitar!

And when you go to the i-Tunes originals you just have to check out the UTB version it's so stunning. BUT I just noticed that Chad sits bolt upright, like there is a rod up his arse! Beautiful posture Mr Smith, beautiful posture!

And now I think I might actually head towards the bed!

Yes....that version of Under The Bridge is by far my favorite....John's back up vocals are superb

i don't think they did a run through of dani with a tele. john is fairly picky about playing the right guitar for the right song (and that verse of dani requires a strat tone). i think the tele is from a performance of another song. but as you said, it's a close up; you'll never see him playing the tele while anthony is singing words to dani. that's what i meant by careless editing: adding in clips from other performances without realizing people are playing different guitars. most times it goes unnoticed to the audience, but when a guitar is different, it's apparent to anyone

Until first chorus it's clearly a Tele tone. BTW, John said 'fcuk' at 4:27, because his distortion didn't turn on.

it was the WH10 that didn't turn on right on time, that's why he said 'fu*k' and, again in the end because it pissed him off...

Regarldless both guitars look wahwesome, and that tone is well I cant describe my vocabularly doesnt stretch into those dimensions

dude, that's a strat tone. I'm telling you guys, he plays a strat the WHOLE time. don't believe me? Watch at 44 seconds. You can see everyone playing the music and john is playing a strat in the background. the tele shots are fillers from other songs. from the tele shots, a) you don't ever see him playing it long enough to tell if he's playing dani, and there's no shot of him with the tele while other people are in the shot playing dani. lastly, there's no break in the song. the guitar doesn't drop out EVER; there'd be no time to switch guitars. anyway, this should be a moot point by now, unless you guys are seeing something else i'm not seeing.

not only is clearly a different guitar, but what he's visibly doing is clearly different to anyone, whether they play guitar or not, to the sound he's meant to be making.

but who cares, it ain't a BAD video! and its an amazing performance. his second f*ck nicely compliments the final snare as well

To be fair there was one shot where I could tell he wasnt playing dani with the tele but the others I couldnt tell. This is still my fave performance of dani!

i had a look on some others and it looks like the fillers with the tele are from the can't stop itunes version
