so here are 2 of my songs inspired by John and Jimi, and I'd like to share it with you and would appreciate any comment on it (both good and bad ones)

I don't like the drum part because I record it from Guitar Pro and it sounds like crap... And the notes are mostly not on time because I record in a weird way and I don't have a metronome or smthng like it...

I like these, though, exactly because they're recorded by a non-professional and all the work is done by myself

P.S. names of the songs are completely crappy 'cause I just typed in the first thing that came to my mind and they don't have anything to do with the theme of the songs...

You can really hear the influences and it sounds pretty good :)
With a bit more work and practice maybe we'll be able to hear your unique sound.
Keep up the good work :)

you're very good at reversing the guitar!

how do you do it, do you have a plan of what you want to hear in your head and try to play the reverse of it, or do you just improvise and play until you get something that fits well?

These 2 songs weren't actually planned, they were more like a one-man-jam :)

When I reverse a solo I reverse the whole thing, than jam to it, and then reverse the whole thing again

EDIT: It is very complicated, though! I plug the cable from the amp (earphones output) to the computer (direct sound card input) and when earphones output is plugged in the amp doesn't produce a sound (it only goes through the cable to the comp.) and I record directly on the computer which gives the song annoying buzz in the background... So I don't really hear what I'm playing (only the ˝dry˝ sound of the unplugged guitar)

ps: say what you think about my songs

@youngJohnFrusciante:
I really like your songs especially electric grunt but I would say that is is not an own song because it is more or less the bedroom jam from the vpro documentation. But it is still awesome man. Perfect interpretation. It is in Em D and C ....Am I right?

well, it does actually sound almost the same as the bedroom jam, but it wasn't really what I wanted... It came out of a totally different melody, than came to these chords... And, yes, Em D and C :)

since i'm inspired to make music by john frusciante (for the most part), i suppose everything i make up is inspired by him

so here's a piece i wrote a couple months ago
i'm really proud of the chord progression in the chorus (there are no lyrics, but i think it's obvious which past is the chorus)
the solo at the end is pretty raw....i never edited it, i kept improvising and never got the timing quite right; i'll go back and make another one eventually, but this take was the best of all the solos

thoughts? opinions? criticisms? suggestions? i'm all ears

Just turn the speakers up on the computer to hear your guitar, or if that doesn't work you might have to unmute the playback volume for the line which you can find by going to the windows mixer. But you may already know both these things. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Also its really hard to get a program that does good drums, not just because of the sound because you can get loads of samples but because it takes ages to program the midi. I guess its good to get a midi keyboard then you can play the drums yourself which is much more fun.

Check Out my MySpace

In the excitement of John's new album announcements, I wrote a new song last week and recorded it tonight.

It's called "Everybody Is Leaving" and it's in the style of anything off Curtains.

All the songs on my MySpace are influenced by John, this is probably the most obvious example though. Please give any comments on any of the songs as I'd love to hear what everybody thinks.

nice songs, Robert!

I like the quiethowyouleftme, it is really great!!!
How did you record it? There is no background noise... How did you get rid of it?

@ JohnFruThomas

I like the 03 track very much, it is very well put together! The major part makes me think of Hawaii and Mexico (no idea why, but I feel like drinking a cocktail on a beach, the Sun is going down and WHOO-WHOO-VERY-NICE girls all around :) oh, yeah!!!)

i havent uploaded anything particularly john inspired yet, but i have posted a youtube of a hendrix based jam i recorded a few months ago, its sort of a mixture of "may this be love" and "third stone from the sun" and its quite chilled out and hopefully relaxing. Although its maybe not particularly obvious in this instance everything i play is influenced by john: http://uk.youtube.co...h?v=kCQAu_HiXkA

I really like the tracks you guys have posted i really feel like i can identify with how you guys play which must be a by product of listening to lots of johns work.

that's beautiful, very excellent playing. i really like the two guitars soloing on top of each other, sometimes that can get muddy but yours sounded really good
