I found out where i probably first read about it: http://acapella.harmony-central.com/archiv.../t-1187100.html (search for JMP)

Put its second hand information for all i know so i still can't be certain..

Edit: Actually this video was the thing that first got my attention; the amp in the back looked like the one i just bought so i got interested.

Cool. I think that's the same amp as seen in the funky monks video alright. Check this out at the 3:25 mark:

There are four amps. I think the one on the top left is your JMP-1, except the big "Marshall" logo has fallen off.
That might go into the "Mother's Milk" section too then- thanks!

I also think the one on the top right is either the Super Bass or Marshall Major. I think the one on the bottom right is a Marshal 2555.

Bottom left? I don't know. There's one behind John on the ground too I think. If you do a google image search for these models you'll see the similarities.

Can anyone name the one on the bottom left? :(

in this Video you can see the amps.
At 4:45 for example.
But I can't recognize it. I will try tomorrow, I'm to tired now... :(

Thanks, I hadn't noticed that the first time round. You can see the amp head on the floor. It also looks like a Super Bass/Major, with the really small "Marshall" logo. Safe to say we can put them both in. I think?

I still can't make out the bottom left one.

That bit before that of Flea playing trumpet... how cool was that?

He recorded 'They're Red Hot' with a late '60 Fender Jaguar

If you look at the neck, you'll see binding and you can see a part of the body. If you look closely, you can see a part of the Jaguar-style controls.

Huh, I was watching the same video and it looked like it was a Stratocaster from how the pickguard was. I dunno, maybe I'm just dumb.

well for the stratocasters alot of people assume there 60's strats cause the rosewood fret boards but the later 50's strats had rosewood not just maple like alot of people think
and i read an interview where he said it was a 58' strat so it would be rosewood
idk if that cleared anything up

that marshall head isn't a 2555, it has two inputs (the jube only had one) and it only has two switches (instead of the jubes three, one the cut the wattage) its probably his jcm800 2203 he had for most of the mothers milk tour, and also the distortion pedal he used wasn't a ds1 he used a ds 2 because he used it for the mothers milk album, and the tour, so why would he change to a ds1? and also the tone of the distortion sounds just like the turbo mode of a ds2, there is no way you can get a tone that smooth and beefy from a ds1 (listen to suck my kiss) so i think his pedalboard was boss ds2 ibanez wh10 and dod chorus.

another thing to point out, where has it ever said that john used a crybaby for Bssm, in every interview he said he used the ibanez, and there is no way that wah tone on the album could have come from a crybaby, the only album he ever used a crybaby was stadium arcadium, so i think he only used a ibanez wh10 for bssm and no crybaby

The Jaguar is an ocean turquoise metallic 65 or 66. The only made jaguars with the dots and binding for one year. Before that they were all plain dots, after they all had blocks and binding. I have an OTM Jaguar and it looks like it's a different colour in every photo I take of it. From very dark green to light blue.

Don't remember right now where i heard this, but he used a crybaby on Sir Psycho Sexy and one other song on BSSM. He also had a crybaby on the BTW pedalboard and maybe used it in the studio also.

John used in every song of Blood Sugar an Ibanez WH-10 Wah in the guitar mode. Only for the song Blood Sugar Sex Magik he used a stock Dunlop Crybaby and for Naked In The Rain he used the Ibanez WH-10 Wah in the bass mode. That's what I know and in what I believe :)

To the thing with Johns Fender Jaguar: Look at the picture below. You see it really good on the headstock. The color is sherwood green.

By the way: John didn't use a Marshall Silver Jubilee on this record. The one who looks like this, is a Marshall JCM 800 Super Bass in the rare white tolex version. There's a picture below, too.

sincerely,
Chili

I think the compressor John used was a Dyna Comp

check this topic for reference, can't find the screenshot now but you can see it in the funky monks doc.

nope. He also owned a blue one (note the sticker, cigarette burn at headstock, no binding on the fretboard). It was lost in the fire of Johns house, I don't think it was used in the BSSM recording days.
