i'm glad that there is the new mars volta album out there with JF playing and that i will see them in 15 days...without that it would be much worse

No, it's not. Nobody ever mentioned a release date or stated that it's definitely done. In fact, it seems to be going backwards (look at my previous reply).

Yeah, the worst is that it does seem to be going backwards. It was scheduled to be released last summer originally, and all the info about it is slowly being removed from Wikipedia. John is likely in one of his perfectionist modes like with Shadows. He's probably constantly remixing and constantly doing parts over again until they're perfect. Hopefully it will be worth the wait.

Glad that someone noticed the same thing I did, as I thought I was seeing things or something. Shadows took ages, but it was worth it.

Such a long wait for the new Frusciante... I wonder how much Josh and Omar is going to be involved in the making of and if there will be some guest performance... I hope the album doesn't rely too much on experimental effects but on the other hand, almost everything with Johns voice on top of it has a strange way of sounding just amazingly beautiful. Exciting to hear if his voice has evolved even further. It seems likely that John at the moment, as someone else pointed out earlier, is trying to mixing into perfection. Fearing overmixing anyone?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that whatever John puts it out, it will be awesome i.e - Sphere In The Heart of Silence.

As for overmixing...might lose some of the raw emotion that makes his work so good :) Although saying that, Shadows was more 'produced' than the rest of his albums but in my opinion is actually his best.

Hopefully there'll be some good John/Flea moments in there.

Shadows in my favorite album from John, so I don't mind the perfectionist production. But John's albums are good with any type of production.
