EDIT: D'oh, you already did it while I was talking! Nevermind. I love the pics. You and your friend look so happy and John looks comfortable and not shit-scared like in some pics with other fans, so that's good.
And Josh's glasses are even worse than Cedric Bixler-Zavala's haircut. Oh my, so many people with bad taste. O_O

I have three stories like that one, minus the meeting and I know how it feels to write one and actually put feelings on paper. And, interesting enough, just like you, I have the stories, but I never blogged them. Heh...so Pisces. So very Pisces.
So, feel free to. The only thing is that it'll probably have to be split from this thread, as it's no longer about the album.

so here's the story of my 'chance' encounter with half the chilis
well here's the low down lol... it was my friends birthday so we decided to go into the city for lunch... before we left i had been coming up with all these hypothetical situations of how we might meet the chili peppers, as they were in syd for the concerts..... so i grabbed a few of my chili peppers and frusciante album leaflets just incase we 'bumped into them' ... my friend convinced me to go check out the place where we guessed they were staying ( the most expensive hotel in syd) and we went there and saw that 3 other people were waiting for the guys and after speaking to them we knew for sure this was where they were staying... i felt terrible cos it was my friends birthday and it was supposed to be about her but we decided to stick around so she wouldn't hear the "imagine if we stayed and john came out" all day from me. We sat down with the other fans and about 5 mins later this van pulled up in the drive way and was acting all shifty.. then flea came out! there werent many people there, and he came over to us and quickly signed two of my cds ( By The Way and S.A) and said hi, then he was whisked away .....after this there was NO way we were going anywhere .. we had just met the greatest bass player in the world and being a guitarist myself i couldn't leave knowing there was a chance i could meet john... so we sat for say 20 mins pumped for the rest of the guys to come down... then the drivers were acting shifty again and we knew someone was coming.. it was AK... he was a bit of a snob i guess even though there were only about 5 us there and we expected him to give us a wave or say hi.. acknowledge us in some way.... but instead he sat in the van for like 10 mins before they actually left the driveway- which is understandable i guess , i would probably do the same, but it was still pretty disappointing ...we were waving to him and he eventually gave us the peace sign through the car window- offt and he looked goood.... Flea, Anthony.John had to be coming down some time soon.. so we made camp and started talking to some other people who had showed up ( some dude had a magazine he had been gradually getting the guys signatures on since '97- he said that he only needed Flea's and when flea came down earlier.. he was walking over to him, but then turned and came to us ... so he was a bit disappointed and was hanging around cos the driver said he would sign everything when he came back) his lady friend informed us that John was not actually staying at the Park Hyatt- where we were waiting, but at the four seasons hotel up the road... so we bolted up there and with the help from some friendly police officers, we found our way and saw Fab Moretti and Tony Belivacqua ( who were playing with Har MAr Superstar in support for the Red Hots) so he stopped and said hi... he was really nice ( little too nice lol) and we had a picture with him and asked where John was.. he said he wasnt sure, but that he was staying there for sure..( he almost got run over as he was talking to us and walking backwards on a red walking sign) .. so now we waited - for about 30 seconds and saw Josh Klinghoffer walking across the road and he was soo soo sweet.. he signed me shadows collidewith people cd.. and we had a little chat... we asked if he knew if John was around and he said he would go up and get him for us
the concert 2 days later .... i was right on the barricade directly infront of john (after lining up for 11 hours) he waved and smiled and kept looking at us.. and i aired soloed with him when he soloed and we laughed i yelled out "your pussy's glued" when he did his solo and he played that... don't know if he heard me/ lipread me, but still

yours was a really interesting story,.. lucky you, that you realized one of your dreams at 17!
super nice pics btw!
about what Ryan told you... nice as well!
me too. I think we won't have that much to wait (also considering he told you that stuff in November).. just one little fact that bores me a bit is that Ryan's frequently changing his 'recently in the studio' section off his MySpace... probably, being that now it's :"recorded most of and mixed some of a new JF album", I suppose John's going back in the mix, maybe adding some further overdub @ his home-studio, recording it by himself or just swirling around with panning knobs and effects at the mixing consolle - as he did with AWII..
about the Sydney stuff, I think they recorded some parts there which will be part of the new John's solo album (the so-called 'solo X')..
there was this old article from channel [V] (aust. music tv channel) I found Amanda posted on JkDn.net (JOsh's great fan site):
RHCP: Flea and John record in Sydney studio
John Frusciante and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers laid down tracks for their side projects in Sydney's Studio 301 last week.
Chili Peppers bassist Flea recorded bass and trumpet for a new, as-yet-unnamed side project. Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante checked into the facility with longtime collaborator, drummer and multi-instrumentalist Josh Klinghoffer to record drums for Ataxia, his supergroup which also features Fugazi bassist Joe Lally.
Ataxia are poised to release their sophomore album May 29, the follow-up to Automatic Writing - the band's 2004 debut
http://channelv.com....le.aspx?ID=1085
wasn't it already posted here?
maybe it was in another forum, can't remember...
anyway I get the feeling this album was mainly recorded in little parts, during little breaks he had during the last section off the S.A. World Tour as he predicted back in 2006; i'm quoting part of this interview that dates back from 2006:
ARCADIUM GAMES
story by Marcel Anders
[...]
What about solo albums? Anything in the making?
Well, there is another Ataxia album. [With the Chili Peppers album finished] we're going to go in the studio and mix the other half of the Ataxia stuff. That was where this new phase of guitar playing started - just playing out f control and playing wild and not holding anything back. I have 17 songs that we're planning on making another solo record out of, but at the moment I'm very busy and I just have to do it in little bits whenever I can. Luckily, I have a studio at my house, so I pretty much have the option of recording in little bits. Josh [ Klinghoffer from Ataxia ], he's making up drum parts to these 17 songs right now, and whenever we get the chance we'll rehearse, come up with stuff. I have a big plan for that album because I want to employ a lot of the production techniques that I've used on this new Chili Peppers album, but I also want to go even further and use classical instruments, orchestral instruments, really retain the raw sound, but at the same time do a lot of production.
[...]
so I expect something like Shadows, surely not in terms of songwriting - I hope/think it will have some BeeGees-like kinda sound at least in the harmonized vocals as Chad once mentioned in one interview on RollingStone, where he told he listened to a demo of 7 songs John was working on back in the times of the S.A.-making era - and not necessarily in terms of production (he said to 'really retain the raw sound, but at the same time do a lot of production'); possibly a more 'heterogeneous' (does it fit here?) kinda sound, rather than the "monothematic" style that characterised each of his last 7 R.C. albums, also seeing that, at least from what I think, the album has been conceived/recorded(?) over a long period of time, as Shadows was....
so, who knows.. a long time has come and passed and still we're not having any consistent detail about the release date or whatever else
but.nevermind, keep holding on! I'm sure it will be worth!
and I'm sure enough the news will come when we won't be expecting any! (What they least suspect is coming next)
sorry for my long and boring post

As I've read, I'm not the only one who desperately waits for new John's album and especially for it's tour! However I have a very shity dilema which bothers me all the time. It happend that in these days I must decide what will I do in my summertime (July and August). I have a great job offer for this time and money would realy help me a lot. But if there would be a tour of JF I couldn't miss it in any way. Problem is that I need to take a decision for this job now. I need your advices, guesses and intuition help. What do you think chances is for JF touring in these two months? I know it is silly question but just try to share your opinion with me.
Thank you

we'll all meet him one day, if we really try hard enough, or not try at all.

She said her name is Renee:)
And I totally get what you mean, I don't like refering to people that way either. But, for work, I am an admin for a forum full of extremely weird people who actually WANT to be refered to by their nicknames, even in real life sometimes O_O

This is not the kind of a place where someone will psychoanalise you for saying that, so say it as many times as you like.
Renee, I'm sorry that it took me a little longer than expected here, but I totally love the story. And the probability of such a thing happening makes it even more special. Also, Josh was extremely kind to get John for you and your friend, how cool is that?
Fab was too nice? Does that mean he was interested in the two of you or something else?
Either way, the story was enjoyable. It IS true that it needs some formatting and cleanup like you said, but as long as we get the idea and see how it was, it's amazing. All best stories on experiences are written that way: while you're still warm from holding someone's hand
Dennix, that's a great summary. I'll start some sort of a page for album rumours and put up everything you, Renee and others before said.

Another thing, unfortunatelly they can't hear anything we scream out from the audience, hardly can hear any crowd noise. So now I know I don't have to shout John, John all the time.

nice you met Omar! tell us more!
so that means he's recording a new electronic album, besides the so-called (and possibly ready to getting released) solo x?
btw how was the TMV gig? did the live Goliath songs rock as well as they did on the studio versions?
