I think completion of That Tree and working on a new song can be done at once, but I'm not a musician, just a mere lyricist, so I'd like to hear what others think.

My time online has been really sporadic lately so I haven't even been thinking about Pink Eye! Sorry guys.

I thought the two boys were going to start recording the music for That Tree? Maybe they have and just never posted it up?!

Dennis and Rafael, let us know if you have anything done or any new ideas.:crying:

I agree with Iva, I have no problem with people starting a new song but I really want to see That Tree progress a bit more before jumping too far ahead. It's hard enough for everyone to keep track of one song it seems  But if you guys do want to start a new song feel free to throw up any ideas you may have :guitar:

Also, Amy, you and I need to talk about finalising the website.

Sorry I haven't been around much Iva. Bad timing too... I'm off on my holidays for a week from this Saturday. So if I don't catch you on msn before then, send me a pm / e-mail about what you have in mind and i'll reply ASAP. How you even get time to think about everything i'll never know :) I wish I could multitask as well as you

Since my old version of That Tree was expired, I rerecorded and re-upped it. My interpretation was quite different from rafs. So at this point I think we'll have to decide which direction to go in. Either way is fine with me. Its been a long time .. I went to europe for 3.5 months and I came back and the thread hadn't moved .. haha

That tree, acoustic guitar with vocals:
http://www.divshare....oad/5217392-d76

The chords are
Verse:

Em ...................D
I'm a tree in the background of
Em........................D
everything, in every scene, in every frame
Em.............D
I see everything that
Em........................D
happens, though I neither a face or name

Chorus:
Am.................C...................Em........D
For years you water me and then you stop
Am.................C...................Em.............D
You know I soaked so much of it this year
Am.................C...................Em........D
If thats an excuse you should probably know
Am.................C...................Em........D
Water spills it fades away, it dissapears and leaves
Am ......... C
Especially when I

Bridge:
Em .........D ...Am.......Em
cry
Em .........D ...Am.......Em

Em .............D ....................Am.......Em
Yes, even the trees cry somebody told me

Em .............D ....................Am.......Em
Lately you've been a dog------ to this tree

Em .............D ....................Am............Em
------Other plants are much easier---- to maintain

Em ..................D .....................Am.......................,..............Em
-----They don't posses their own mind and words (when it rains?).

D .... C
ohh, ohhh

Then back to the Am - C - Em - D bit with the 'saved me from a forest fire lyrics'
And a short Em chord in between those 2 choruses.

In the last chorus you'll hear me shove some random words in between the lines, I think it'd be cool to have some Don't forget me/quixotic elixir style backing vocals there ..

I'm also excited about this new idea I have for a song:
http://www.divshare....oad/5217276-c61
The vocals on there are just an outline for the vocal melody, the lyrics are nonense. For this song we'll need:
1) Someone to write lyrics to fit with the tune
2) Bass and drums
3) Rythm guitar overdubs and a guitar solo (in the long verse with no singing)
4) Somebody to sing it

By the way, everyone should use divshare.com for their filehosting, you get a 5gb account and the files never expire.

Regarding That Tree, I am still undecided about which version I like more. Both are sofa king great! :D
I have an idea which might be weird, so please, STOP ME IF I'M BEING AN IDIOT:
Would it be possible for both versions to be recorded and named e.g. That Tree and That Tree (alternate version)...?

Can I ask you only one little, ltitle thing? :(
Do not change the spelling of my lyrics, please. I'm very keen on how I write it and I know I did not write "thats" as there's 0,01% I'd ever get an apostrophe wrong, anywhere. I'd ask my dad similar things, too; as once he read my poem to people and he got a verb wrong and I was ashamed because I knew I had not written it wrong myself. So, NOTHING personal, just my own sense of what I call perfection and what matters to me most in this life, education-wise.

I'll see if I have anything that matches your new song, too...unless you'd prefer someone else to write the lyrics. I love the melody, it's the kind of acoustic rock that appeals to me very, very much. <3

Sorry Iva, I wasn't thinking that much coz I was only showing what chords are there, I'll remember next time. I was going off memory from 6? months ago when I sang it too, so forgive me if I misplaced a word :D

Yeah it'd be great if you have something that matches the new song .. awesome !! I've had that melody for about 3 months and haven't been able to put words to it.

Just had a quick listen to your uploads. Nice work Adam. :D I like your version of That Tree a lot. But like Iva, I'm not sure which is my favourite. Not long home! It's 1.45 am and I'm falling asleep as i type this so I'm in no fit state to listen to either properly or give any sort of constructive comments on either at the moment. There are elements of both I really like so it would be tough to choose.

I think this is a brilliant idea!! If we managed to get 2 full versions recorded we could even do a poll with all the members of I-M taking part to decide which version ends up being the Single and which the B-side :( Or something along those lines. Just a bit of fun and it would be great to get the non-musician members taking part. I mean it's their band too after all

I won't be online much (if at all) between now and September but when I'm home I'll gladly chip in with some music if i'm needed.

Hopefully in the mean time a few of the regular musicans here will get cracking on recording some stuff!

Well done Adam for putting in so much effort. Hope you keep it up.

Hey, could someone re-up the older version of "That Tree"? Like the new one but would like to know what I could contribute to on both.

;)

Two songs sound fantastic - lets get recording!
I'll post up a .wav of the acoustic guitar track ready for vocal and guitar overdubs. Who's singing lead?

hey adam!

well done

I dug the new song draft you got there (the one pinkeyedemo.mp3), real catchy melody.. still frooshy, I'd really like to work on that one more than That Tree which I appreciate but I don't feel like getting into it a lot, especially on singing it beacuse I fee like the melody would kinda be driven by the words, kinda pushed in to fit them

always count me in for providing guitars or vocals and stuff. let me know

Dennis, I'm sorry you don't want to carry on with the vocals for 'That Tree' but I understand your concerns. I thought your voice would really suit the type of song it's turning into but C'est la vie :P If you and Adam want to start work on the other song go right on ahead. I look forward to hearing what you come up with.

I have some free time this coming weekend so I'm hoping to set aside a few hours to play around with some new ideas for 'That Tree.' Hopefully i'll get a chance to record some bits and pieces.

Anyone else who's interested in singing or playing on the song, please don't be shy :( We need all the help we can get

mm I'm not too familiar with writing lyrics in english, i could give it a try turning your vocal draft into some words I know but I assume someone who's native english speaker could figure out words a lot better than me!

--edit--

I figure out the first fifth vocals lines, being inspired from the blahblahs you were singing, I came up with this, doesn't make sense but it doesnt necessarily have to imho

There's a lot
