Fender deluxe reverb, would this amp be good for me Options

hey this is mey first topic and i was wondering if you people could help me, would fender's deluxe reverb ressiuse be good for any of john's stuff, like does the clean sound simmilar, does it react well with my ds 2, cos at the moment i have a marshall mg and i don't think it sounds good at all, i also was wondering if id would be loud enough to gig clean with.

please can you help me out, i was turned onto fender after finding out that john had a fender showman and he used that to record scar tissue (my favourite tone ) and i thought the deluxe reverb was a simmilar amp.

I'm no expert but you probably would be able to coax some Fru-tones out of the amp with your pedals; tube amps generally work much better with pedal than SS amps, and you'll be able to get the amp breaking up sound from a tube amp also.

thanks, i thought it was weird that fru's distorted sound was way better than mine, even when i bought the ds 2, and i think 22w of tube power would be loud enough to do almost anything with

Fenders aren't made for distortion, so you may not get the best distortion out of it.

Are you looking for a head, or just a combo? Combo-wise, I really enjoy the JCM 800 Single Channel or the JCM 900 4102.

There has been a combo version for every line of Marshalls since the 800 seeries.

i would prefer a head, but vintage fender's don't come in heads any more, iwould just prefer a head cos it would alow me to have more freedom over speaker choices, and i would prefer a vintage style amp for john's stuff, pearl jam, nirvana, and something that would work well with my ds2

go on ebay. save your money and look at some nice jcm 800s. ive been looking around on there and there are some really nice ones under 1000$. most of the time they pop up there under 1000$.

JCM 800's would be way too loud for home use (which I presume the purpose is) and are probably too loud for small gigs, unless you get an attenuator for it. Otherwise there is no point getting it as you won't be able to use it. I reccomend looking at the Tiny Terror, which is a really nice amp and is fairly cheap (about £450 for both head and cab). Loud enough for small gigs and band practice, probably bit too loud for home use, depending on your situation. JCM 800's would be more expensive, bearing in mind you would have to get a cab as well for it.

Fender-wise, I would recommend the new Band Master VM. I tried these at a music shop and I really liked the distortion on it. There is also built in chorus, vibrato, and delay, but I didn't get to try those effects. It doesn't have that metal distortion, but it has really solid hard rock distortion.

I think anything above 5 watts is probably too much for home use. Combo's are usually more expensive though aren't they? Also you don't get the same freedom of choice of speaker, I don't know how much of an issue that may be though for you.

You can get a combo, and just plug an extension cabinet or you can just change the speaker if you want more choice.

Don't worry about it. Opinions clash everywhere. It's really up to OP. TBH, I'd get a head because of the less space it takes and the versatility of just switching heads, but I find no point in using them unless you play really big gigs. But I did at one point use a 2x12 cab which was kinda useless IMO because it was just like using a combo.
